Show Hatch REVA LOWDER Our Relief Society held their tinnual party Friday evening instead of the 17th so more of the ward members working a-way could attend. A banquet was held in the ward hall; Ar-dis Evans showed slides. Stake visitors present' were Mrs. Vernon Holman; Mrs. Loris Chid-ester, Mrs. Leonard Slack and Mrs. Stanley Tebbs. The speakers in Sacrament meeting were Lamar Barney (tnd George Middleton. Jolayne Wilson played a piano solo. Mrs. Middleton and daughter and Jan Peterson accompanied George to church. Kurt Sawyer was ordained a Deacon in Priesthood meeting Sunday morning. The MIA presidency attended a Dance workshop in St. George on Saturday. Several Relief Society members attended a stake meeting in Pangultch Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Ivor Riggs left for Calif, last week to bring Mrs. J. E. Riggs home after a two week visit there. Their children stayed in Pangultch while they were gone. Valeen Sawyer, who has been attending school at Salt Lake, and her fiance Donald Wood-mansy, who has been stationed with the Air Force in Neb., are visiting for several days with her folks, the David Sawyers. Weekend visitors at the Garth Heap home were the Ronald Sawyers, the Don Heaps of Cedar, and Mrs. V. J. Nelson and son of Salt Lake. Saturday evening Theora and Jo-Anne attended a golden wedding reception In Pangultch for the Herbert Worthens and a wedding reception in Tropic for the Royce Griffins. The Wayne Barneys of Og-den visited the Frank Barneys. Mrs. James Burrows is home after visiting a few weeks in Neola with her brother, the German Workmans; she also visited her sister and family In Roosevelt. Sunday visitors at the Burrows home was the Max Burrows family of Fredo-nia, they also visited at the Lowders. The Orson Barnhursts were business visitors in St. George the first of the week and visited in LaVerkin with Mrs. Amelia Sanders. Thursday Maggie's brother Owen Sanders visited here. Dallas Barnhurst of Las Vegas is here visiting his grandparents. Mrs. Robert Palmer and sons of Nevada visited over the weekend with her parents, the T, H. Sawyers; Saturday visitors were Tommie Shakespear of CSU and his fiancee Gay Rowley of Parowan. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Harris of Glendalc came Sunday for their sons David and Andy who spent part of the week with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Haney. College students home for the weekend were Wayne Wilson of Dixie, Evan Wilcock, Ralph Riggs, Duard Riggs and family of Cedar. Ralph went to Richfield Saturday where he was interviewed by Elder Tanner pertaining to Seminary work. The Orlas Riggs received word that their son Jerry was out of the hospital now. Jess Lowder accompanied a group of college people from Cedar on a kayak boat trip on the Colorado River from Glen Canyon Dam to Lees Ferry. Visitors at the Sam Evans home were Kirk Evans and fiancee Gloria Jolley from CSU, who spent most of the week here; the Gary Evans family of Cedar for the weekend; the K. Giffords of Sprindale on Friday, and June Gifford of Salt Lake on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilson spent several days last week in St. George doing temple work. Mr. and Mrs. Nell Clove of Pangultch visited Wednesday with the George Workmans as George was' quite ill. His son Keith came from Cedar and took him" to the doctor, then Keith Jr. took him to the Veteran's hospital at Salt Lake where he will be confined for some time due to clot in his leg. Verie Clove of Cedar came Friday and took, Mrs. Workman to Salt Lake so she will be close to visit George. Our town was like the song "Aunt Dinah's Quilting Party", there were four quilts made. Mrs. Gib Clark of Kanab had a quilting in the ward hall on Wednesday; she visited here again Friday and brought Del-la Bybee and a friend from Kanab. Mrs. Beryl Sawyer had a quilting at her home, out of town visitors were Mrs. David Frost and daughters, Mrs. Duncan Flndlay of Kanab, and Mrs Roy Shakespear of Tropic. The John Mechatns of Tropic visited the O. B, Huntingtons on Wednesday and Thursday, and Mrs. Mecham held a quilting party while here. Mrs. Marcie Dutton also had a quilting at her home. Nile Sawyer took the school bus to Cedar Tuesday for repairs. Mrs. Sawyer and daughter Jo accompanied him, Jo stayed there overnight. The next day Mr. and Mrs. Sawyer went to get the bus and Jo and Tommie Shakespear returned home with them. Mrs. Cloyd Campbell .took ner daughter Florene and La-ralne Barney to Pangultch Sunday evening where they sang in church. Sunday at noon our town had a thrill when several fly- j Ing box cars (C119's) flew at tree top level over town. |
