The Relief Society celebrated their 125th anniversary on March 17th witlr a dinner and -program for the married people of the ward. Elvin Sudweeks brought his mother home after she spent some time in Richfield with him and his family. Frances Shakespear had all of her children home last week except Louise who lives in Colorado; Harold came from Alaska. The Jim Brockmans and Ruth Nielson visited the doctor In Cedar City last week. There were many out of town guests to the wedding reception of Royce and Suzann Wintch Saturday night. Visitors at the Charles Wintch home last week were the Milton Wells family of Washington, the Ronald Ottensons of Salt Lake, the Merrell Wood-, bury family and Layton Ott of' St. George, the Jim Gouldings ol Cedar City, and Charlcne Wintch of Provo. Among weekend visitors in town were the Kent Cottams at Luella Mangum's; the Larry Clowards of Spaish Fork at the Ursel Otts; Melvin Beard had his aunt and uncle here. Franz Shakespcar received his mission. call to serve in the Northwest Indian mission. The Henry Jolleys and son of Cedar City spent the weekend with the Earl Jolleys. . Dorma Barton is spending two weeks in Salt Lake with her sister Colleen Campbell who is recovering from a recent illness. Ben Cope is home from the hospital. Their daughter Ros-nlyn has been visiting here for two weeks. The Royal Alveys had their daughters Florence and Carol and small daughter as weekend visitors. The college students were all home for the weekend. Martin Ott spent the weekend with his grandmother, Mabel Ott. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Crosby and twins visited the Thomas Richards on Sunday. Ethel Hatch had her 82nd birthday March 19th. Her daughters Beverly and Gwcn and son Dar of Grantsvillc helped her celebrate the event. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Dutton and Mr. and Mrs. Mateland Baugh are parents of baby sons born, March 14th. Having birthdays last week were Joe Pollock, Rella Alvey, and Steve Mecham. Mr. and Mrs. Hardy Smith of No. Las Vegas visited the Gene Chynoweths and the Dar Smiths on Saturday. Mr, and Mrs. John Clarke of Hawthorne, Nevada visited the Lester Clarkcs Saturday. Mira Loy Ott was a patient in the hospital this week. Mary Hatch visited her sister Blanche Richards and other friends last week. LaVar Ahlstrom is here on . business. The Eldrege Aseys have been visiting here this week. The Bart Smiths and son visited the Afton Pollocks for a few days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Ott took their daughter Sandra to Cedar City Sunday where she will attend college. They received word that their daughter Marily and family have been transferred from Chicago to Washington, D. C. Elizabeth Barton spent the weekend in Hatch at the Lay-ton Barney home. The LaVel Baughs and the Lane Chynoweths and their families visited at the Sherman Baughs last week. Margaret Mecham had her mother, Mrs. Redford of Hunter as a visitor last week. Thclma Jolley spent a few days In Cedar City last week taking care of her twin granddaughters while their mother received medical care at Salt Lake. Tho Semlary students put on tho program In church Sunday with Kay Mangum, Seminary president in charge. Talks were given by Carl Shakespear, Peggy Ruesch, Deanna Chynoweth, Dorian Johnson, also Seminary principal Joo Allen; piano solo, Arlene Barton; mixed quartet: Maureen Pollock, Evon Rose, Shaunna Syrett, Artolse Rose, Carl Shakespear, Dorian Johnson and Craig Twitchell. Word has been received from Spokane, Wash, of the death of Ronnie Thompson, small son of the Harold Thompsons of Bryce Canyon. Helen Beatty visited with the Ira Littlefields over the weekend. |
