Show Imlay Trial Starts Francis Imlay of Escalante goes on trial on second degree murder charges Thursday, tfov. 8,. at the Garfield County Courthouse in Panguitch. The charges arise from tho June 28 shooting death at Escalante of Scott Rasmussen, 15, of Salina. According to Judge Ferdinand Erlckson, of the sixth judicial district, a jury of eight will be selected from a list of 45 summoned to jury duty by Sheriff George Mid-dleton of Garfield County. Venire men had been summonsed for duty and a trial date, set for Sept. 17 but that date was was postponed and It was announced that venue had been changed to Piute, County. However that change was never ordered officially and at the request of the defense the trial Is being held " In Garfield County. Eight men were selected to hear the case: Konroy Henrie, Panguitch; Phil Allen, Antimony; Orlas Riggs, and Kilburn Wilson, Hatch; Earl Jolley, Tropic; Norman McDonald, Panguitch; Charles Francisco and John Mech-am, Tropic. Harvey D. Gates, one of the Rasmussen boy's companions on the night he was shot, was the first witness, with Dr. Mason of Panguitch following him to the stand. |
