Show KSCALANTE CHIT CHAT BY FAY ALVKY The weather moderated so much that folks are complaining about the heat; but we knew they would, most every ono' manages to keep busy and out of mischief. So many folks were here for Memorial Day and those who did not come then, came for the opening of fishing season. The George Spencers had daughter Wilma her husband Thomas Franks and family of Kearns, Verge Deuel of Gunnison, and Osmyn Deuel of Hatch, also Alvey Wright of Bountiful, they had 22 at Sunday dinner. Ivan Davenport and family of Keanw are visiting at the home of her mother Eliza Mclnelly. Jim Haycock has his. daughter Bell here for a visit; Aunt Susan Heaps is still in the Pan-guitch hospital; Aunt Lillie Baker passed away at her home last weekend, she had such- high hopes of getting well and plans for the future. Memorial visitors left out were Lpra Heaps, Boyd Pollock, Gary Wayne Graf; Her. bie Allen and family; Bobby and Sandra Porter flew from Mesa, Arizona and visited their parents, the Gall Bail-eys and Roland Porters for a week, then Roll and Mina accompanied by daughter Yo-land Mclnelly tcok them back and planned to visit their other son Merrill and family who live there also. Mrs. Lcra Schowr brought word of the sad fato of a former resident, Mrs. Walter Astle (Margaret) who- fell down the basement steps striking her head and has lain unconscious !jr six weeks, she had undergone surgery but did not seem to help, her address is 859 East 8600 South, Sandy, Utah. Lea Griffin is always locking for an excuse to visit her folks In Provo but her last one takes the cake ; she rented her house to the Larry Chynoweths and has noplace to live so vent home to Mama. Betty Jean Dowdell of Provo brought her mother (continued Insida) ESCALANTE Norma Spencer down to get her placo ready to rent to Gordon Stevens and family this summer, Norma has a good Job there in Provo and Is quite contented. Kent Mc-Inclly had bad luck with his house he was going to rent, he was getting it ready and put some trash in tho fireplace to burn when it caught fire up in the roof and burned almost completely. The Verl Jaspcrsons havo a different car, Elmo Blood took the one they had, they tried it out going to Richfield to see about Vcrl's leg which had infection in, Elmo accompanied them. Johnny and Ina Thompson of Panguitch were visiting here last weekend; Linda Eyre and Pearl Chris-tensen were visiting friends and relatives also. Bell Chris-tensen has three grandsons and two of their buddies hero visiting. Johnny, tho one who lived with her ana attended school here is on furlough from the Air Force, he is stationed in Hawaii and says he has sixteen moro months before he is a civilian again, he can hardly wait. Tho Blake Robinsons have had some new company and another round of tho old; Jeff and Reed Thompson, Mo Klnley Morrel, their daughter and son-in-law the Joe Aliens, and daughter Juana Sta- pics and her daughter; Dick Oakley and son Ricky of Springville and Buddy Oakley of Denver, Colorado, then their daughter Ruth is home from college. Joe and Rhoda will live in Roxburg, Idaho this winter where he will teach Seminary. Mae Vonn Taylor took her three year old son Jerry to Salt Lake to a dental specialist and had twelve teeth worked on, he came back alive. Eliza Mclnclly went as far as Panguitch with Ivan and Lucilc Davenport on their way back to Kcarns, she planned to have a medical checkup and hitch hike home. Whltey and Mararlda Porter went to Panguitch to have Maralda's broken arm checked, she has been soaking it good in dish water so it should bo healed. Donald Lis-ton has been trying to get his wife and belongings moved to Panguitch, he thinks it is quite an ordeal but ho is just getting started. Betty Al-vcy took her children, and parents, Wallace and Ella Roundy to Provo to the graduation of son Jerry, they also got to see "Sand in Their Shoes" and visited in Salt Lake City with sons Glade and Vivian and families, Vivian's wife has been quite sick and had surgery but is better and home again. Marlene Haws and Gerald-Ine Liston were also in Provo visiting relatives and seeing "Sand in Their Shoes". The Albert Gledhills returned to Provo after visiting here a week. Forgot to tell you last week that Francis Imlay and a buddy visited briefly here with his parents the Frank Imlays. Darrel Alvey Is sporting a cast on his hand mending a break got when he hit the ground after being thrown from a brahma bull. Coleen Griffin has been to Panguitch helping her mother house clean, and while there her baby got sick but it was handy to take him to the doctor. Oit and Idonna Haws -of Boulder were here visiting relatives and getting their car inspected. Orson Spencer is here visiting. A letter from Tony Reynolds in Germany reports he is counting the time until he Is released in February, then he will be really free as his girl Is getting married to someone else. Our missionaries Blaine Willis and Sharon Dale Marsh report that they are busy and enjoying the work. Usher and Eva Spencer havo been away doing temple work. Lynn Mc-Inelly was home on furlough and it was reported that he married a gal, but she will neither deny nor affirm it. Lark and Bea Reynolds of Cannonville were here fishing with their parents, Maud and Cliff, they got word that their son Tom is married to Ann King of Boulder. John and Lola Zenz went to Logan to the graduation of their daughter Marjie Spencer, she will teach here this winter. Mayor and Mrs. Claron Griffin, Lenora Griffin and Hilda Roundy went to Provo to see their kids Jim and Janet Spencer graduate from BYU, they both plan to teach here also. Arthur and Twila Mc-Inelly also went to Logan to see son Wells graduate. Andrew Spencer took his wife and Maud Reynolds, to Panguitch to see the doctor but it was Sunday and he must have been in church as they could not find him. Boyd Owens, Gaden Gates, Gerald Thompson, Douglas Mclnelly and the Alvey brothers, Slim and Smith, were home for the weekend. Flora Bard well was in town Tuesday, she gave us some more to worry about, building bomb shelters. The R'oundys reported having met Ester and Linford Christensen in Provo, they were there to the graduation of their son-in-law, Carol's husband, said they looked fine and were still living in American Fork.
