Show THE WORD FROM BOULDER BY NETOELLA GRIFFIN Plans are taking shape for a considerable improvement at the Boulder ward church this falU Bishop Leland Haws reported Sunday that the church architect had examined the building with a view of adding a Relief Society room to the east side of the present structure. Plans also include beautlflcation of the grounds including landscaping, plantings and re-fencing. Arrangements have been made with Doyle Moosman for extending the grounds westward and shortening them northward. Also to be provided are walks, driveway, and additional space for coal storage. Yesterday we watched a huge flood flashing down Baker Wash that has been bone dry for a long, long time. The largo culvert under the road took all the water rrd held fast In Its place. Such floods used to mean washed out roads. Though we have not been blessed with a good, deep-soaking rain here In the valley yet, the mountain Is re-celviug moisture every day in various parts, and it looks as Jf some rains are reaching the lower Country. Mrs. Richard Ambler has come to Join her husband at the Indian ruins excavation camp. Mr. Ambler is assistant to Dr. Lister of the University of Utah archeologlcal department. He Is directing the work in Dr. Lister's absence. Mrs. Ambler's parents, Dr. and Mrs. G. W. O'Sullivan t Deming, New Mexico broufc.it her and her month-old' baby. Friends in New Mexico, apparently with Mr. Ambler's present work in mind, presented Mrs. Ambler with an Indian cradelboard basket, which she is finding very convenient and which the baby seems to enjoy. The Sullivans were surprised and enthusiastic about the beauty of this country. Mr. Ambler reports that August 22 will mark the close of this season's excavations on which date a party of archaeologists will be here to Inspect the ruins and take pictures. Mrs. Dorothy Lyman is visiting in Salt Lake this week. She took with her Mrs. Hazel Lyman of St. George who has spent the last month here and In Wayne County. Hazel, accompanied by her granddaughter Sandra Lyman Is now on her way to California for a visit with her daughter Edith and family. Visitors at the LeFalr Hall home ths weekincluded Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Peterson of Salt Lake and Mrs. Hall's sister and family, the Lcray Jensen's of Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson and family of Salt Lake were at the Parley Colemans this week. Mr. and Mrs. Mac LeFevre accompanied the Ralph Heins to Yellowstone National Park last week. Miss Sharon IFe-vre Is visiting with frienls in southern California. Dell LeFevre Is back at work with the survey crew after a (continued on back page) BOULDER month's lay-off because of an arm injury at the 4 th of July rodeo. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Ormond went all the" way to Denver to see a rodeo last week. Maybe they Just wanted to try -out their new car. Bruce and Donna Jean Wilson and two little boys arc at the Lorin Moosman home. Bruce Is on leave from the Air Force base at Omaha, -Ne braska. . - Emeron Peterson's" "old white horse" was winner again at the District Riding club meet at Richfield Saturday, beating all other entries In the semi-finals and then besting his opponent in the finals. This was a thrill for the members of the Peterson family and others from Boulder who were there. Among these were Flora Baker, Clyde King and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Alvey. Desmond Twitchell, Alton Shakespear and William Barker were speakers at Sunday services, Mrs. Barker was also present. Ann Coombs played a piano solo. |
