Show Garfield County Fair Set For Friday, August 21st It's the Garfield County Fair on August 21st Every-ono is Invited to exhibit some thing this year. A full day of activity is planned to provide good entertainment for all who do attend. All 4 -II clothing, handicraft, needlework, canned goods, soap, etc. should be in so tho judges can start judging by 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 20. The livestock, crops, flowers and baked goods will be in by 9:00 A.M. on August 21. A full schedule of events for Friday will be as follows: Friday, August 21: 10:00 A.M., Exhibits open at Elementary School. Judging starts on Livestock at Fair Grounds. Judging starts on Foods, Flowers and Crops. Slide show at Elementary School. 11:00: Slide Show; Judging, fair grounds. 12.-30: Slide show (Each show different). 2:00 P.M.: Special activities at fair grounds (Amateur Rodeo, Pig chase, Calf scramble). 4:00: Dress Revue, Elementary School. 6:00: Talent Show. Of special interest to all persons In the county are the three slide picture shows which will be conducted by expert photographers in the area. This show will feature scenic attractions in the Garfield County area. Making arrangements for this Interesting show Is Mr. Glen Bean, Supt. of Bryce Canyon Park, In cooperation with Mr. AUen Cameron and Mr. Edson Alvey of Escalante. Pet Show The Junior pet show will be a new feature of .the fair this year, and all of you are urged to groom and dress pets for entering this show at 2 P.M. to compete for prize which will be awarded. Rules are as follows Child must be under 12 years old and must register between 1 and 2 o'clock: pet must belong to some member of family showing it; pet must look nice; not judged on pedigree; if pet can do tricks, have It do them; child must be able to handle pet without older help while showing it; dogs must be on leash. ,y Flower Show A special invitation is issued to all flower growers to enter exhibits In the Flower Show. Rules and regulations for arranging flowers are as follows: Flowers must I delivered to Elementary school before 9 a.m. Aug. 2lst; each exhibitor must have his own container; the committee will not be responsible for b; ?ak-age or loss The owner's nama should be placed on the underside of container. No cans or milk bottles will be accepted. In the cultural division only, flowers must be exhibited by the one who has grown them. Each entry must, be composed of a single variety of flowers except in class '5. Class 1: one specimen of any variety; clau 2: 3 specimens of any variety; class 3: 5 to 9 of a variety; class 4: 9 or more of any variety; clsu; 5: Artistic arrangements (Miniature, live, Novelty, etc.) House plants must have been property of the exhibitor for at least 3 months before tht Fair. |
