Show Services Held At Escalante For Mrs. Elizabeth Porter Elizabeth Ann (Ban) Porter passed away August 1, 1959 at the Panguitch hospital and her services were held August 4th in the Escalante South Ward chapel with Bp. Lorell Munson conducting. Prayer in the home was by Pratt Gates. J. Clyde Spencer; song, "My Father Knows", Singing Mothers; Benediction, W. R. Barkers Grave dedication by Clayton Porter, interment In Escalante Cemetery under direction Neal S. Magleby Mortuary. Mrs. Porter was born In Escalante April 10, 1887 to William Henry and Mariah Barker Gates. She married William R. Porter Sept. 16th In Escalante and in recent years the marriage was solemnized in the St, George Temple. Mrs. Porter was an activo LDS church worker and chart ter member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and at her passing was first vice-captain of this organization. Ban was an unaffected friendly little soul and the town will miss her. She is survived by her husband and three sons, DeRay and Elmer of Escalante and Derrel of Salt Lake City; two daughters, Hazel (Mrs, Albert Carlton) of .Lehi and Violet (Mrs. Dee Moosman) of Pleasant Grove; one brother, William Henry Gaes, and a sister Stella King.
