Show Cattlemen Meet At Hatch ? The first meeting of the Hatch-Hillside Cattle and Horse Association since December 1947 was held in the Social' Hall at Hatch last week. Members of the' Association made annual plans, with Forest Ranger S. L. Cuskelly of Pan .guitch, to graze approximately 16,500 acres of Dixie National Forest range lands, east of Hatch. Of vital concern to the " group, In their planning, Is the critical condition of their watershed on which they graze about 140 head or cattle and horses for four months. During the past few years these livestock operators have found It . impossible to graze the allotment for the full season with out damaging the range to a point of accelerating loss of precious soil from the watershed. Plans are under way for a range reseedlng program, Jn cooperB. tlon with the Dixie National Forest, Vhjch will alleviate the Intensity of use on the range and help to rehabilitate the watershed. The Association officers elected for 1955 are: President, Orson Barnhurst, Hatch; Vice President, True Heywood, Pan-gultch; Secretary-Treasurer, Cal ln Wilson, Hatch; board members: James Burrows, Arthur Sawyer and Orson Barnhurst, Hatch. |
