Snow Cover BelowAverage The cooperative snow surveys by the Soli Conservation 8etv!ce nnd Forest Service for April 1 shows, with one exception, a decrease In snow water as compared to the same period last year. The exception being the Wldtsoe-Escalante Summit. At Duck Creek the snow averaged 33.27 Inches In depth and contained 11.47 Inches ot water. Last year 58.5 inches ot snow was measured on this course that contained 17.1 Inch, es of water. Harris Flat recorded 22.35 Inches of snow and 8.5 Inches of water. The comparative figures , for a year ago were 32.3 Inches of snow and 9.6 Inches of water. J There Was no snow at I)ng Valley Junction, however, the ground was well saturated. Last Year on this dale 13 Inches ot snow that contained 1.9 Inches ii f water Was recorded. Pangulich Lake sndw amounted to ll.t Inches and contained 3.04 Inches of water. Last Year's amount was 17.2 Inches of snoto and 4.7 Inches of water. The Wldtsoe-Escalante Summit averaged 28.93 Inches ot snow and 8.71 Inches of water. Last year 23.1 Inches of snow and 6.95 Inches of water was realized. ' The snow surveys were made by Walt humsey, Soil Conservation Service, and Grant Williams, Forest Service. |
