Show Halley's Comet to Wrap Its Tail Around This Sphere New York, Fob. 1. Camilla Flammarion, tho French astronomer, as-tronomer, in a letter published hero today, says that tho vaporous vapo-rous tail of Halley's comet will onvelope the earth on May 19. "For several hours," ho says, "we will bo immersed in the gaseous caudal appoudages whose chemical constitution is still little known. Tho comet will pass directly between the sun and tho earth at 2 o'clock in the morning of May 19. At that hour the Pacific ocean will be in full daylight, while in Franco it will bo night. Little danger may' be oxpect-ed, oxpect-ed, however, for tho tail will probably be so rarified as to be inoffensive. Ogdon Standard. |
