Show Sudden Demise of W. A. Ray. Pioneer Merchant Summoned. Hcmuins Shipped to Salt Lako City for Burial, Early Friday Morning. W. A. Ray, one of our pioneer merchants and highly respected citizens, was suddenly called to the great beyond a few minutes min-utes after 7 o'clock Thursday evening. The entire community was shocked when the sad news was announced. The cause of his death was Cerebial Hemorage; over-exertion and eytreme heat being con-tributary con-tributary causes. During the day he was in the best of spirits and chatted to hi? friends in his usual characteristic manner. He called at this office about 3 p. m., stating he desired to publish pub-lish an article in this weekV issue, saying he would prepare it in a short time. The article remains unwritten. Many people conversed con-versed with him during the day and were indeed shocked to hear of his sudden death. He was leveling gravel at the north side of his establishment when the shock came. He retired to the house and Dr. Francke was immediately summoned sum-moned and did all in his power to revive him, but his time had come and he passed peacefully away at the hout atated above. It was a severe blow to Mrs. j Ray and her little son Paul, who 1 were present at the bedside. A host of friends came to comfort the Mrrnw-stiicken widow and son who were hardly able to bear their grief. Mr. Ray was 57 years of age, a good husband and father and an honest man. He was one of the pioneer merchants of our town and has won a host ot friends in this city who express their sympathies sympath-ies to the bereaved family. Telegrams Tele-grams were sent to the children, Miss Minnie Ray being in California. Cali-fornia. Lucian A Ray, Wm. Ray anti wife and Don Ray of Salt Lake, children of the deceased, , came up on the midnight train Thurtday. The body was embalmed em-balmed by Jos. W, Taylor and shipped to Salt Lake Friday morning. Mrs. Ray and children child-ren accompanied the remains to Suit Lake where funeral services will be held Sunday. It is expected expect-ed that Miss Minnie Ray yvill home Jroiiwb;- coast "to attend Vneeervicc5. The deceased leaves a wife, four sons and one daughter and a host of friends to mourn his loss. We extend our heart felt sympathy sym-pathy to the bereft family in this their hour of trial. |
