L II Konnard appeared and stated that, he was conducting a general mcr chandtse business on a small scale In connection con-nection with the post ofllcc, and asked that ho bo giant cd u license without fee for conducting his business, Upon mot ion of Clir. Valentine .Mr. Konnard was granted n free license for tho year 1907 and tlto back llccnso abated, Frank .1 Walker of the Farmers Commercial Com-mercial & Produce Co. appeared and stated that he was willing to pay back llccnso for the timo he lias been doing business from Aug, 1st, 1000, but did not think It right to pay what was duo w lillo Mr. Wilcox had tho business. Upon motion of Clir. Valentine the clerk was instructed to Issuo Mr. Walker a license from Aug. ltith 1005 to Fob. 10th 1007 for 20. Rev. A I Hansen appeared and asked that the Methodist Parsonage, which had been sold for taxes, bo declared erroneously erron-eously sold, and that said propcty bo exempt from taxation, Inasmuch as said proporty was used for insolvent purposes, Jnmcs Nelson, Jr., appeared nnd stated that a Mrs. Illlbcrt ana grown son were living In a dugout in Hawlins and wcro in destitute condition nnd that the son was apparently only half wittcd, and asked that action bo taken In tho matter. Kilns Jonscn, nsscssor, appeared and asked tho hoard to place a valuation for assessment purposes upon tho land cast of Hear Itlvcr which is being irrigated from tho Hammond Canal, Tho assessor assess-or was Instructed to use his judgement aud assess said land nt Its cosh vuluo. Communication from John M Saunders rcgnrding services In notifying poll tax workci, aud from Hockcl Blank Hook Co. relative, to price and style of shelves for recorder's vault. Clerk instructed to notify tho said company to furnish the steel shelves as per their bid, said shelves to match those already 'there. Upon motion of Air. Hart, 12.17 was appropriated to pay tho taxes of Mrs. J A Cramer, pauper for tho year 1000. The bnndsof Hans Knudson, constable, J Edward Ulbbs justice, A E Holmgren Justice nnd O A Anderson Constable, wore approved. Peter A Nebckor appeared In behalf of his son, Molvln, tho recently elected and qualified Burvoyor, and asked that tho county purchase, for tho usu of surveyor, sur-veyor, asct of surveyor's instruments. Tho application of John Mcltobcrts for the position of gardener for (ho year 1007 at tiiO per month, osven months each year, was presented, also tho application of J W Sheffield for tho position of Jan-itor Jan-itor nnd gardener at the court houso at .WO per annum, was presented nnd considered con-sidered Hon. F W Flshburn appeared nnd spuko favorably of Mr. Shcflleld. Upon motion of Chr. Valentine the application app-lication of J W Sheffield was granted and allowfd nnd ho was allowed 1350 per annum. Upon motion of Mr. Adams, the (30 sent the attorney by I. W Standing of Fielding was accepted as buck license to Jan. 1st, 1007. Call for Trans Mo. Dry Farming Congress Con-gress was read, Tho Assessor's appointment of deputies was ratified upon tho motion of Mr. Hart. Mr. Adams reported that P N Pierce hud phoucd him that Mrs. ltowhcr would sell one acre In Sec. 2 T. 10N. It. 4 W. for gravel pit for $20 tho proposition was accepted upon motion of Mr. Hart, providing pro-viding Mrs. ltowhcr furnish a deed therefor. Upon motion of Mr. Adnins the license of Wallace Patterson to conduct a business busi-ness of selling liquor was revoked nnd the sherrlff instructed to closo it nt once. Tho application of N J Valentino ct al. for an allowonco of f 10 per month to T It Thomas was presented and action deferred. de-ferred. Petition No. forty was granted upon motion of Mr. Adams, The petition of A K Jensen ct nl, asking ask-ing for the appointment of Dr. It A Pearsons County Physician, application of Dr. E A Itlch for the position of County Coun-ty physician was presented. Upon motion mot-ion of Mr. Hart, Dr. Itlch was appointed County physician. Upon motion of Chr. Valentine the County Board of Health was organized, composed of tho commissioners nnd County Physician with M II Hart as chairmen. Hoard adjourned for two weeks. |
