The following is what a lady (?) from Provo recently said of her neighbors neigh-bors and would-be friends while she was on a visit to her former home in Kearney, Nebraska, as reported in the Hub of that town. We know not for certain who this lady (?) is, but we leave it to our readers to judge of the truth and justice of the allegations: The ladies of the Nineteenth Century Cen-tury club met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. I. D.Marston, with thirteen members and four visitors. Mrs. Nora M. Jones, of Provo, Utah, Leing present, she was asked to teil about the Mormons. She told of their character and the way they welcome . Gentiles,-givinr theni small crec.it for honest friendship, as they consi ler il working for God's kingdom to betray Gentiles. The most elfusive are least to be treated. Mrs. Jones said while the younger generation were a little ashamed of polygamy, they were so raised in ignorance and prejudice that thej were Irom the lowest classes of Europe. |
