Show C7 The Emery County Review, Tuesday, July 22, 2008 r i a F Schedule of Events Tuesday, July 29, 2008 Exhibits Received Time: 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Location: Exhibits & Expo Center The Emery County Fair has traditionally been a showcase for individuals to bring their wares to show off their special talents in many categories. You will find exhibits of canned and baked foods, crafts, quilts, art, pottery, photographs, fruits, vegetables, flowers and anything else handmade or grown by our county citizens. 2008 Open Class & 4-H Exhibit Entries Exhibits will be accepted from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29th at the Emery County Fair Exhibit & Expo Center located at 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale, Utah. All fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers and baked goods will be accepted from 8:30 to 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 30th at the same location. Exhibits will be judged on Wednesday July 30th at 11:00 a.m. Exhibits open to the general public at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 31st. Exhibits must be picked up on Monday, August 4, from 9:00 a.m. – noon. Emery County Fair 2008 Basic Exhibit Guidelines PHOTOGRAPHY: Stan Mathis: 381-2466 1. All exhibitors must be residents Emery County. 2. Both professional and amateur photographers may exhibit; they can only submit entries in one class. 3. Only prints that have been previously entered at the Emery County Fair will be accepted. 4. An individual may enter a maximum of 5 prints. 5. The size for each print for this year is 8” x 10” or 8” x 12”. Advanced amateur 11” x 14” or 10” x 15”. 6. All entries must be affixed to a mount board of foam core approximately 1/8” to ¼”. (No cardboard, poster board, etc. permitted.) 7. No front mats or frames will be accepted in any classification. 8. Prints may be surface coated with a protective photographic lacquer or spry gloss. 9. Prints that were taken with a digital camera may be entered and will compete equally in all classifications if the images have not been computer manipulated. The exception will be for entries entered in the special effects/abstract classification. 10. No names or identifying marks may appear on the front of prints or mount boards until after judging has been completed. 11. Class designations for children, adults, advanced amateur and senior citizens. 12. The fair personnel will use care to secure the pictures and safeguard their safety. However no responsibility can be assumed for any lost, stolen, or damaged photos. 13. All decisions of the judges will be final. All entries are limited to residents of Emery County 2. Exhibits must be original Work. NOT A COPY. 3. Work previously entered cannot be exhibited again. 4. All pictures must be securely framed and equipped with hangers. Exhibits made from prefabricated kits are discouraged—UNLESS the exhibit has been significantly modified to magnify the exhibitor’s talents. 3. Articles entered must be the COMPLETE work of the exhibitor. 4. Items previously exhibited will not be accepted. 5. All decisions of the judges will be final. All exhibits must be CLEAN, soiled entries will not be accepted. 5. All decisions of the judges will be final. All exhibitors must be residents of Emery County. 2. Work must be exclusively that of the exhibitor. 3. Exhibitor need not to have grown the plants in the arrangements. 4. HORTICULTURE: (Flowers Grown) Michelle Scovill: 381-2823 All entries for this category must be fresh and entered on Wednesday morning, July 30th between 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. - just before judging. 1. All exhibitors must be residents of Emery County. 2. All Entries must have been grown by the exhibitor in Emery County. 3. Exhibitors must provide their own container. 4. AGRICULTURE/HORTICULTURE: Michelle Scovill: 381-2823 All entries for this category must be fresh and entered on Wednesday morning, July 30th between 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. - just before judging. 1. All entries are limited to residents of Emery County and all products must have been grown in Emery County. 2. All entries must be placed on a disposable plate or tray. (Paper or Styrofoam). 3. All fruits and vegetables must contain 5 specimens. 4. The exhibits must be clean and all 5 specimens need to be of uniform shape and size. 5. Root crops need to be firm, cleaned and free from soil. Roots need to be cut off and tops need to be trimmed to 1 inch. 6. Honey – 1 pint 7. Berries – 1 full cup displayed on a plate 8. Grapes – 1 plate full 9. Nuts – 1 plate full 10. There will be inflatable games, bounce house, dunk tank, obstacle course, scavenger hunt, sawdust dig, mural coloring, X-box under the tent, sand sculpture, and of course the rock wall. You can also learn what a fireman does and test your skills. There will be ‘Count the Items Each Day’ contest and ‘Count what’s in the Jar’ contest every day. To find out what the item is go to the information booth inside the exhibit hall. The jar will be there as well. The winners will be posted each day and prizes awarded.
