Show C6 The Emery County Review, Tuesday, July 22, 2008 EVENTS Castle VAlley Pageant ELMO Horse -n- Buggy Days Elmo will celebrate Horse –n- Buggy Days July 24-26 with a variety of events for the entire family. On July 24 there will be an ATV ride with registration beginning at the junction of SR-10 and 55 at 5:30 p.m. There will be a $5 entry fee. The ride leaves at 6 p.m. and riders 15 and under should be ATV licensed and accompanied by an adult. On July 26 festivities get underway with breakfast and a flag raising ceremony at the park from 7:30-9 a.m. The parade will begin at 10 a.m., and at 10:30 a.m. the program Family Duel will begin. Elmo Town residents encourage you to stay for the day and help celebrate Horse –n- Buggy days. The afternoon will be filled with fun and games. There will be a bottle rocket competition and for those interested in the taking part, you need to have a two liter empty bottle decorated, lid side down (that’s your bottle rocket, in case you were wondering). There will be horseshoes, kids games and a Guitar Hero or Rock Band Competition. Bring your mitts, bats and balls for a game of family softball. There will be a bike ride beginning at 6:30 p.m. Register at the new Town Hall. Registration is $3 and includes a sidewalk ride for the little ones and lots of prizes. (Please bring and wear your helmet.) Come hungry for dinner, which begins at 5:30 p.m. A family dance will be held at 8 p.m. and the entry fee is $3 per person. Fireworks will top off the evening at dusk. Concessions will be open for the hungry and thirsty throughout the day. The Daughters of Utah Pioneers are excited to be included in the Castle Valley Pageant this year. They will be located in the Pioneer Village where they will be selling home-made brownies, cookies, cakes and breads. They will also sell hand-made quilts, afghans and other items. Emery Company represents all of Emery County in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and individual towns and cities in the county have individual camps. Huntington Camp represents Huntington; Camp Dale represents Castle Dale; Old Mill Camp represents Ferron; Rock Canyon Tail Camp represents Oraneville; Desert Rose Camp represents Cleveland; and Lilly of the Valley Camp represents Elmo. Ferron Castle Dale Desertview Pro Rodeo rides into town The Desertview Pro Rodeo will begin for the first time on July 24 this year and will run through July 26, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the rodeo grounds in Castle Dale. With stock from Ike Sankey Rodeo Company, the 10th Annual Desertview Pro Rodeo continues to grow in popularity. This year, popular rodeo clown/barrelman Scott Cameron will perform on July 26. Peach Days Approaching Helper Helper Arts Festival offers a little something for everyone Aug. 15-17 The Helper Arts Festival will be held in the historic town of Helper Aug.15-17 as downtown Helper gives way to become a huge outdoor art gallery with local art vendors, painters, musicians, vocalists and sculptors. There will be activities for children and live art demonstrations. The grand opening of Aset’s Ultimate Airbrush Art Gallery will be held during the festival and there will be the premiere of The Adventures of Power, an independent film from Sundance Film Festival that was shot in Helper. The popular Helper Idol competition will also take place on Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. (a preliminary round of Helper Idol will take place on Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Carbon County Fair.
