Rex Kay Stewart Jr. of Salem retired on May 31 from over 20 years of employment with Intermountain Health Care. Rex started at McKay Dee hospital, but spent the majority of his years at Utah Valley Regional as the Patient Food Services Manager. Courtesy photo FOR A GOOD CAUSE: Come and help us show our support to our friend and neighbor, Paula Cloward Berns. A longtime Spanish Fork resident, Paula is the daughter of Larry and the late Gail Cloward. She is a 37-year-old mother of three children, Mackenzi, Taylor and Devin, and wife to Michael Berns. She works here in our community and serves as the current President of the Young Women in her ward. Paula was diagnosed with breast cancer in December and began chemotherapy in January. She recently finished her six chemo treatments. She has had two surgeries already and has at least one more to go, not to mention radiation treatments coming up. She is about halfway through her whole ordeal. There will be a 5K run/walk in her behalf on Saturday, June 13, 2009. It will begin at the Brockbank Elementary at 7:30 a.m. You can pick up registration forms at Maceys, MVP, Zions Bank or Stone Drug. We love you, Paula! Kiwanis Summer fun at the library Summer reading programs are underway, so come to the library and sign up to earn prizes, have fun and read great books. We now have a program for everybody, including beginning readers, junior readers, young adults, a family program and this year we are introducing our adult program. Summer story time schedule includes Mother Goose Time, for toddlers, on Mondays and Tuesdays at 11 a.m. Creative Kids, for ages 4-7, will be held on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. and on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m. This is a fun and creative story time. The Creative Tweens pro-' gram, for ages 8-12, is held on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and on Thursdays at 3 p.m. Tweens will be introduced to some great books, and have lots o f . ! fun with a variety of classes that show just how fun being creative can be. Games at the library for ages 10 and up are held on Thursdays from 4-5:30 p.m. Come play one of our board games, jam out with Rock Band, show off your dance skills with Dance Dance Revolution, or show your adventurous side with Lego Indiana Jones. ' Movie nights, for all ages, are on Thursdays at 6 p.m. for most movies. Check at the library for titles and please remember that not all titles are appropriate for all viewers. Special guests also included the sixth grade students who were honored as "Terrific Kids." Greg reminded everyone that according to Walt Disney, "All our dreams can come true if we pursue them." He encouraged the students to do new things, make a broad base of friends and to take time to develop and share their talents.
