Syrett 679-8687 or Clint Mecham called and said that due to the item in the newspaper they got their Bassett Hound back. Someone in the Sudweeks family saw it wandering around and thought it was lost. She took it home to Layton Utah and put a notice on the Internet about a Lost Dog. When Anita Sudweeks, (can't remember her married name) read it she called the lady up and siad she knew who the dog belonged to. Clint and Lori are very grateful to have little Pearl back home with them. Clint is happy to have his little "buddy" dog again. They thought they had lost her forever. So it pays to tell your news to someone and get it in the paper. Who knows what might happen. Marv Shakespear and his mother, Rella Alvey, were happy to have a visit from Marv's daughter, Josie Duhon of Biloxi, Mississipi. Josie and husband, Jeff, came to visit and brought their daughter Carmen with them. They had a nice visit with aunts, uncles, cousins, and so forth. They went to the 24th celebration at the Park and had a great time. The Pollock Reunion was held recently and Rella Alvey had lots of visitors because of it. She was delighted to have Ken and Ida Alvey of Las Vegas, and their children and grandchildren, and Frank and Afton Branch of Bountiful with their children and grandchildren. Rella is the step-mom for these people and their mother was Nina Pollock Alvey. She was very glad to have them here to visit. The Daughters of Utah Pioneers Garfield Company met to make plans and understand the inner workings of the Meetings each month. There are DUP Camps in Escalante, Hatch, Panguitch and Tropic. Meetings in Tropic begin the third Monday of September at 3:00 P.M. You are certainly welcome to attend. Panguitch begins their meetings the second Tuesday of September. They also like to have new members. Come on out and see what you are missing ladies. In the Enoch 2nd Ward, Michael Arthur Jensen was put in as the new Bishop with counselors, David Jordan 1 st Counselor and Rocky Howells as 2nd Counselor. Mike is the son of Art and Vicki Syrett and they are very excited for him and very proud also. Mike is married to the former Stacie White, whose mother Linda Johnson White grew up in Henrieville. Her dad is Dennis White a former Cedar High School teacher, now retired. It was good to meet with everyone on both sides of the family and for such a special occasion. vickidiane36@hotmail.com Our very own local girl, Amber Dawn Stock, from Cannonville Utah will be traveling to California to persue her lifelong dream. Amber wants to become the next "American Idol". Amber is the daughter of Jeff Stock of Cannonville and Jan Stock of Tropic. She will be staying with her sister, Erin in Los Angeles, Calif, who will be going with her to the tryouts. Amber has enjoyed singing and while she worked at the Hungry Coyote in Tropic she would sing to the tour buses on friday and Saturday Night, but they seemed to prefer the male singer who sang "old" cowboy songs and did cowboy poetry. Amber has been Homecoming Queen, sang in a variety of talent programs, tried out for Miss Garfield, and had her "gig" singing at the restaurant. Most of her family will not be able to travel with her to California so sifter, Erin and hopefully, brother Jeff Stock and his wife, Jen, will be there to give her moral support. Her whole family is rooting for her and wish her the best of luck in this endeavor. We wish you Amber luck also. Jessica Stewart and her children, Marin and Cole, went to Erda Utah to visit her parents. Jessica is married to Chance Stewart. Dorie Baugh and Emilee Courtright went to Colorado to visit Cari and Chris Gillespie and then came back to Las Vegas where they met Dorie's daughter, Dana and went shopping for school clothes. Cari and her daughter, Alii had been in Tropic for a couple of weeks visiting with family and friends. Dana, Emilee, and Dorie stayed with Chris Baugh who is Dorie's son and then came home to Tropic. Dorie looks so cute with her new hairdo and she said it was good to be home even if she had a good time with family. Well Kids, school is almost here. Are you READY? Hope you all have a good week and will call with your news. Thanks, Vicki S. SIGNS, PRINTING & GRAPHIC DESIGN snapshotmedla.com Call 676-2621 |
