All customers in Kane, Garfield, and Northern Arizona were affected. The power went off at approximately 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, and was not restored until the next morning at 8:15 a.m. Some areas of the system came on later as the loads were energized by circuit because of the length of time off. The outage occurred when a two-pole 138 kV structure on Garkane's main transmission line from Glen Canyon Dam toppled. It was reported by the National Weather Service that severe microburst winds passed through the area at the time. Crews and equipment were dispatched from all of Garkane's service areas. Crews spent much of the night with a contractor and heavy equipment getting repair vehicles 3 miles to the structure and worked continuously to make repairs and restore the power. Garkane reminds its customers that the transmission lines serving our areas are radial (no loop feed) in nature, and long outages can occur if something happens on the line such as this. We encourage you to be prepared for inevitable weather-related power outages such as this. Choose an easily accessible closet or cupboard for an emergency supply of flashlights, batteries, and other needed items. We regret the inconveniences caused by this outage for the affected customers Valid Until August 17,2006 This Coupon is good for 10 Dollars Off ANY Transferred Prescription to Panguitch Drug Co.
