Each year nearly 2,000 cases of child abuse and neglect are reported in Utah USH UFO ABOUT County alone. Sadly many still are not even reported. During the course of a sexual abuse investigation the victim is subjected to multiple interviews from police, social service, medical personal, psychologists and attorneys. Children's Justice Service and Pattie are' gearing up to start training more volunteers to become child advocates. Volunteers interested in signing up are encouraged to contact Pattie. There are four requirements for volunteers: Be at least 18. Pass a background check, (for obvious reasons) Complete 30 hours of training, (which is broken up tofitaround work and school) Commit to participate in the program for at least six months. The upcoming training will consist of five sessions, held on Saturday, September 10, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, September 13-15, and Saturday, September 17, 2005. Attendance at all five sessions is mandatory. The next training sessions won't begin again until January. Anyone interested can contact Pattie Huestis at 851-8504.
