Utah's victory broke Georgia's 34 home-meet regularseason winning streak, breaking what was one of the longest winning streaks in the NCAA in any sport. The win also marks the first time the Utes have won at Georgia since 1995. The No. 3 Red Rocks came back from a .300 deficit to narrowly edge the No. 6 Gym Dogs 195.9195.8. Utah, which upset defending national champions UCLA on Jan. 7, improved to 2-0, and Georgia dropped to 3-1. Co-head coach Greg Marsden said he was relieved to have finally broken the team's dry spell in Athens, Ga. After the first two events of the meet, bars and vault, the meet was in a near deadlock, with Georgia holding a .1 lead, 98.275 to Utah's 98.175. Junior Stephanie McAllister and senior Kyndal Robarts both tied career highs, with McAllister earning a 9.875 to tie for second on bars and Robarts taking first with a 9.95 on vault. It marked Robarts' second win of the season after capturing the title in the same event against UCLA. In the second half of the meet, several errors on the floor put the Utes in a dangerous position, trailing 147.2-146.9 at the end of the third rotation. Robarts fell from the fifth position—in which one foot is in front of the other and the heel of the front foot touches the toes of the back foot—at the end of her first tumbling pass and out of bounds, which resulted in a low 8.875. 7 p.m. Albuquerque, N.M. Lothrop and fellow freshman Mary Beth Lofgren pulled in big scores as the first two on beam, scoring a respective 9.9 and 9.95. Both scores were career highs for the freshmen, and Lofgren's score also tied her for first place. However, junior Cortni Beers Disaster struck again moments later when freshman Corrie Lothrop, who was anchoring the floor, stumbled at the end of her final pass. Although Lothrop managed not to step out of bounds, she earned just a 9.6, putting two of Utah's four floor routines in the bottom four. Foster had five blocks in a 68-51 win over Wyoming on Saturday. After nearly a month of losing, Utah (8-'o, 1-3 MWC) finally snapped its seven-game slide by defeating the Wyoming Cowboys 68-51 in Laramie on Saturday. The victory ended Utah's longest losing streak since the 19491950 season. The slide lasted a full 29 days and was littered with near victories. Utah's last win came Dec. 17 against Boise State. "I want to praise this group for their toughness and their resiliency," said head coach Jim Boylen. "I've said that we have a good basketball team and we have the right guys here. I've felt that way the whole time, but until you break through and win a game, that falls on deaf ears." Utah's defense preyed on a Wyoming offense that is last in the Mountain West Conference in scoring. Wyoming (8-10, 1-3) only managed to hit 35.8 percent of its shots, and Utah grabbed 47 rebounds to Wyoming's 29. David Foster, who continues to progress after being hampered by knee tendonitis early this season, had one of his best defensive games with II rebounds and five blocks. "I hate when people alter my shot or block me, so I'm sure they were frustrated and didn't know what to do," Foster said. Utah's offense was laden with 3-pointers. Wyoming's zone defense struggled to find Utes behind the arc, and Utah took advantage by hitting 12 of its 27 3-point attempts. The Utes (9-9, 2-2 MWC) started the game on the wrong end of a 21-5 run and never completely found their way back into a 55-48 loss to Wyoming. Utah missed its first eight shots and by the time Janita Badon's 3-pointer got the Utes on the scoreboard nearly seven minutes into the game, the team already trailed 11-30. January 19 at 6 p.m. Huntsman Center coach (Boylen) went over their zone defense," said Will Clyburn, who shot 5-of-b from behind the arc. "He said there would be open shots and we just had to knock them down." Clyburn led the way for the Utes with his 24-point, 12-rebound performance. He has now scored 20 or more points nine times this season and has six double-doubles.
