seventh- - and eighth-grader- s will decide if the uniforms navy and khaki pants should be accented with forest green burgundy or navy At the same time the northern Davis County school is gearing up for uniforms the staff of Salt Lake Citys Nibley Park Elementary has dropped their quest to make school uniforms mandatory for ine nearly 500 pupils at the school Nibley Park became the first school in the state to try uniforms in 1996 Some teachers and the principal thought the program so successful they wanted to make uniforms mandatory rather than offer an opt out clause but they later backed down fearing they might lose some students We feel that its really important putting kids first so were going with the status quo end having an opt out We love our kids and we dont want them to go said Principal Jane Larson Earlier in the year teachers and parents took turns speaking to the school board in an effort to persuade them to make the uniforms mandatory at Nibley Park Students who do not wear uni -
