Sometime since last tall some vandal went along the whole row of trees on both sides of the road and cut each tree with an axe near the bottom of the trunk and deep enough so that all the trees will die 'The vandalism came as an extra blow to the Gunnison Garden Club as members recently had found a source of beautiful white and purple lilac bushes which were to be planted between each tree giving promise of a colorful and beautiful entrance to the city Gunnison residents are bending every effort to find the culprit and inasmuch as the trees were planted on state property and were the property of the state in the Utah officials are being asked to apprehension and punishment of the guilty party It's a shame that all the planning and work of club members and all the years of growth of the trees should be wasted just because of some individual with an axe It is to be hoped the guilty party will be found and punished with perhaps the replacement of the trees as part of the punishment Falco 1 The Dearborn al Visited with Ralph Richards Summit County dairyman the other day during' the annual Highland Dairymen's Assn meeting at Hotel Utah Ralph who lives at Oakley is a member of the association and very much interested in the progress of the dairy industry During our conversation Which was mostly about the growth of the Highland association and the advantages of belonging to such an organization Ralph extended a cordial invitation to all to attend the Karnes Valley Junior Livestock Show the last week of May Irudeol by Roy "little-minded- F tl " 1)4 PI In Watch Your Carburetor Donald M Budge our farm mechanics expert has had several articles on how to make farm tractors Gilden more efficient and now comes Robert Extension Service to of Wyoming Agricultural tell us just how inefficient some of our tractors are Ile asks us to imagine a string of railroad tank cars a thousand miles long each full of tractor fuel Now if the entire thousand-milstring were to be burned or be dumped on the ground you'd figure it was a stupendous loss wouldn't you? Well Agricultural Engineer Gilden says U S farmers waste that much tractor fuel every year by driving tractors with poorly adjusted carburetors In a state like Wyoming faulty carburetion probstring ably would waste enough fuel to fill a of tankers and we guess the waste in Utah would be about that much too Looks like it pays to read the operator's manual and see that the carburetor is adjusted properly A a tr ti e te th na fa WI no on In ye The Cover tin he eia Being head of a dairyman's organization that numbers more than a million and a half members throughout the U S is no easy job That's the latest job for the smiling chap on our cover this week lie's rill N Warnickof Pie te? nt Grove and you can ad about him in "Meet Mr Dairyman" on the following page wo let in Ph rut 4--- " Sheepherder SamA P111 0 f? lel 4 11 ------ - " a 1 1 k '-El 1E10 IVW k ilk lit I o 4 ' 0 f4it igi tiii6111 itt A ! 11 ! - 1 11 1 witiii 'Im a N 1 tr"' lag-- If -- I 4tlir 1 famous movie star—wintor In the &sort "I'm lik sommor hi tho mountains with kondrocis of fonsolos Si THE SALT LAM!
