One hundred boys (a record number) have been working hard to get ready for a great season. Five nights a week, coaches have been having Dr. Renee West from Ogden Clinic examines the players, making sure they are in good health to play. them work on conditioning, strength training, and learning top secret plays to insure victory this season. Games are games. Parents are also welcome to post pictures and notes about their football teams. Football is a huge commitment to both the boys and their parents. Not only is time required, but parents are also encouraged to support the boys and coaches by supplying water and oranges at halftime, keeping “stats,” and helping with anything else the coaches need. Please volunteer all you can. Our program is growing and so is the need for volunteers. Keeping the football program up and running is very expensive. Each boy requires $400 in equipment. The program receives no money from the city or county, therefore it is totally dependant on sponsors and donations. This year the Balloon Fest allowed the football program to run the breakfast. This was a great opportunity to earn money for new equipment. This is a community program and we need the community to help! We would like to thank Ogden Clinic for donating their valuable time and skills by supplying our boys with very com- Wolf Creek Resort Boasts a Feminine Touch (Eden, Utah) While golf has traditionally been a male dominated sport in terms of both players and staffers, Wolf Creek Resort in Eden, Utah benefits greatly from the two areas where a feminine touch is readily apparent. Chris Briscoe, General Manager of Wolf Creek Resort explains that two key staff members have added a certain flair to the resort. THANK YOU! If you are interested in donating your time and money, or are interested in becoming a sponsor of the Ogden Valley Football Teams, please call Lora Hart at 745-6869. Erin Dauby was recently promoted to Head Golf Professional after spending years in Arizona at such notable courses as Moon Valley Country Club, TPC @ Scottsdale, TPC at Las Colinas and The Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale. Her last position held was as a golf professional custom club fitter at PING in Phoenix, Arizona. Here, Erin assisted in the development of the PING club-fitting program for women, and was also an instructor on custom club fitting. As one of only two female head pros in Utah, Erin has injected new energy into the Tuesday’s Women’s League, instructing weekly the 25 attendees in her group on techniques such as short game, sand play putting and course management. She has also revised the Wednesday night couples program, offering challenging tests of skill, such as cross country golf, poison scrambles, and on-course instruction. On the more physical side of the Wolf Creek Resort’s golf course, which is considered one of the most scenic and challenging in the state, Monica Fuit has added several special touches of a decidedly feminine nature. She is also “one of only two” female Assistant Golf Superintendent’s in the state. GCSAA Super Rob Thomas commented, “ All the flowers throughout the course are Monica’s passion, and her love of all things green really shows. But the most unique effort Monica has implemented is a bird house program in conjunction with the Audubon Society.” The Audubon Society has created a special program that teaches its members how to lure native birds to large public areas, such as golf courses. Monica heard about the program through the Golf Course Superintendent’s Association, and has hand-built 18 birdhouses that she has installed throughout the course. “We are just now starting to see some variation in the types of species we are attracting, and the golfers have commented on how unique the bird houses are,” Monica noted. Of course, landscape design and the bird program represent just a small portion of her responsibilities as Assistant Course superintendent—she is also responsible for the scheduling of day-to-day maintenance, special projects, and for monitoring the resort’s irrigation system. Both Erin and Monica have young girls who also plan to pursue non-traditional roles, and they even have their husbands’ blessings! Monica Fuit Wolf Creek Resort is a high mountain, 18 hole public course in Upper Ogden Valley, located about 55 minutes from Salt Lake. The par 72 course is the centerpiece of a 12-year master plan that ultimately will bring 18 additional holes to the course and a pitch and putt practice course. The master plan consists of 2,500 acres, 80% of which is permanently protected as open space. The residential build out will include condominiums, twin homes, single-family homes, two condominium hotels, and a small commercial village.
