Show THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Page 14 Volume VI, Issue X September 1, 2002 Kimber Academy — An educational alternative Construction of the new Kimber Academy is well underway and scheduled for completion in mid September. Located kiddy-corner from Eden Park, Kimber Academy (formerly Noble Hall) is a private school that welcomes prayer and the pledge of allegiance. Whereas Noble Hall was a Kimber Academy affiliate, by becoming an official Kimber Academy, students will enjoy additional social and learning opportunities, including participating in inter-school activities with the North Ogden and Salt Lake City Kimber Academy schools, and enjoying visits from emeritus General Authorities of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The 2002-2003 school year will include visits from Elder Vaughn J. Featherstone, Elder Hartman Rector Jr. and Elder Robert Wells. Kimber Academy is a private school for students K-12. The core subjects—Book of Mormon, Math, Language Arts, Science and History are offered Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The cost for the core curriculum is $160.00 per month. Extra Curricular classes are offered in the afternoons and on Monday and Friday. As a policy, there is no assigned homework at Kimber Academy, but many can’t wait to continue their studies at home. The school nurtures a love for learning, with each student being provided the freedom to move at their own pace— usually two to three times faster than at public schools. Kimber Academy provides many leadership opportunities. Recently David Peterson was selected by the parent Advisory Board to be Huntsville’s International Student Officer for the 2002-2003 school year. David is the son of Lynn and Maureen Peterson of Eden. As an international student officer David will receive a full tuition scholarship to attend the Academy. His duties will include speaking at seminars, conferences, and on radio talk shows throughout the country. If the situation in the Middle East permits, David will have the unique privilege of traveling to the Holy Land to participate first hand in an archeological dig. David says “Attending Kimber Academy turned my life around in just a few weeks. I’m anxious to share with others the advantages of attending a school where the spirit of the Lord is present, and books like the Bible and Book of Mormon are part of the curriculum and not outlawed like they are at public schools.” In addition to being an outstanding student, he competes (and wins) in mountain bike races, and is an avid rock climber. College savings plans offer a taxadvantaged opportunity to put aside money for your future scholar. Or you may want to build a portfolio on your own with the help of your financial professional. Prepaid tuition plans lock in the cost of covered education expenses at current prices, so when your stu dent is ready for college, you’ll pay the tuition that was in effect at the time you began making prepay ments.
