Kathy has a heart and soul that cannot be conquered. Unfortunately, her body could not keep pace with her determination. Kathy was born the oldest child to Pamela Gubler and Theron David Smart on December 29, 1970. She grew up in a good home with parents who loved and taught her. She gained a testimony early in life of her Savior Jesus Christ. She always lived her life as an example and in service to others. She excelled at almost everything, graduating at Orem High School in 1989 with honors. Her desire to learn and teach lead her to Utah State University where she graduated with a Bachelor”s Degree in Secondary Education, with a major in biology and a minor in math. While attending USU she fell in love and found what would be her true life’s work. She was sealed for time and all eternity to Rex Harris on March 24, 1992 in the Jordan River LDS Temple. She created a home with an atmosphere of love and warmth that was ideal for raising children. She had three beautiful daughters and showered them with more love in the short time she had with them then most will feel in a lifetime. Kathy touched every life she came in contact with. Her constant desire was to serve others. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served faithfully in the Young Women”s Organization in various callings. Kathy simply enjoyed life. Some of her other interests included playing the piano, hiking, camping, skiing, and kayaking. Kathy is survived by her husband Rex; there three daughters, Alicia, Rachel, and Megan of Huntsville, Utah; her parents Pam and Dave Smart of Orem, Utah; her brother and sisters Rich (Jamie) Smart of Garden City, Utah; Melissa (Peter) Shelley of San Rafael, California; and Amy Smart, serving a LDS mission in Brazil; her grandmother Kathryn Gubler of Lund, Nevada; and her parents-in-law, Joseph and Majken Harris of Huntsville, Utah, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, and cousins. Preceding her in death were her grandparents Theron and Nora Smart, and Ernest Gubler. Kathy was a fighter and always chose the hardest paths because she knew that she would gain from the experience. She lifted us all through her last trial; though the disease raged, Kathy triumphed. Thankfully, she is at rest and whole again. It has been said of Kathy that those who knew her best, loved her most. We will miss you Kathy, and look forward to being with you again. A viewing was held at the Huntsville LDS Chapel on August 28, 2001. The Funeral will was held at the Huntsville LDS Chapel on August 29. Interment in the Huntsville Cemetery.
