The class will last two hours, and is being offered to OV Jr. Posse members first, and then to any young riders ages eight to seventeen living in Ogden Valley on a space available basis. Ms. Doreen Matheson of Lund, Nevada will be teaching the class to the young riders. Matheson has achieved her third level riding credentials from Pat Parelli, and is approved to teach levels one and two. She currently travels to Ogden Valley approximately every six to eight weeks to teach a group of adults who are participating in Pat Parelli’s PNH (Parelli Natural Horsemanship) training program. During the class for junior riders, Matheson will focus on safety and respect between horse and rider. Each student should bring a horse, and plan on learning through playing instructional horse games during the two hours of instruction. Since class space is limited, Jr. Posse riders will have a signup time from September 1 through September 7. They are to call Janett Bishop at 745-3072 to reserve their space. From September 8 through September 14, other interested junior rider can then call Leslie Nixon at 745-3447 to also sign up as space allows. Interested adults and children are welcome to come and observe. Parents are especially encouraged to attend. A selection of Pat Parelli’s PNH (Parelli Natural Horsemanship) video tapes are available for check out at the Ogden Valley Branch Library. Library staff member Rebecca DeAnda related that the videos are so popular that they became worn out and had to be replaced recently.
