The large newly painted markings were created to serve as benchmarks for aerial photographers who will be taking updated photos of the region. Photos are taken about every ten years and used by private businesses and county, city, and federal officials, in part, to establish photo documentation for future use and research. The information is also useful for surveyors and others interested in obtaining data such as soil patterns that can be observed from the aerial photos. Perhaps an investor is interested in purchasing a vacant lot within Ogden City. He or she may come to the city office and ask to see old aerial photos on file in an effort to discern what the previous uses of the property were. If the investor sees that a gas station once was located on the property, they may be alerted to additional costs that may accompany development of the property, i.e. the cost of removing and disposing the old underground gas tanks. The photos will eventually be scanned into an electronic format for easier use and manipulation. Aerial survey marking Judge Lyons Sets Date for Additional Hearing on Wolf Creek Land Sale by Shanna Francis Ogden Valley News Staff Several weeks after the hearing was tabled, Second District Court Judge Michael Lyons is now ready to proceed with the Wolf Creek Park and Trail case after Plaintiffs produced evidence requested by the judge showing why the suit should not be dismissed. On Thursday, May 18, Judge Lyons will continue with the proceedings. Defendants had previously filed a legal petition asking the judge to dismiss the case citing the suit was not filed within the 30-day window of opportunity under the state statute of limitations. Defendants are hoping that Judge Lyons will hold on May 18, that there is adequate evidence to proceed with the lawsuit against the County and Rulon Jones. On May 3, Utah State Lieutenant Governor Olene S. Walker came to Eden to meet with Petitioners Kent Fuller, Robert Fuller, and Ben Toone to discuss the lawsuit. Lieutenant Governor suggested that a Legislative Audit of Weber County would be appropriate. She also stated that there was no reason that the County couldn’t null the Quit Claim Deed in the publics’ best interest. Petitioners also discussed their concerns with the Lieutenant Governor regarding the irony of tax payers having to fight a public wrong while public officials are using public tax dollars to fight the public whom they represent. Petitioners are asking the community for their continued support in attending the court hearings.
