Show IIVolume II, Issue X THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Page 3 15 May 2000 NORDIC cont. from page 1 Township commissioners before their regularly scheduled monthly meeting, the Weber County Planning Staff recommended Ayla White’s petition be denied because there was no clear mandate from the Nordic going water problems Nordic Valley experiences, and because of the lack of understanding as to how the wastewater situation would impact the area. It was also noted in the report that increased traffic issues would have to be addressed, as well as the issues raised at the November 1999 meeting convened to address recreational/resort issues within the Liberty/ Nordic Valley Township. The meeting held last November was a valuable first step toward formulating development standards for resort/recreational areas Recently, developer Ayla White hosted a public meeting at the Snowcrest Junior High School to present her proposed develop- within t o w n s h i p. ment to Valley residents. Unfortunately, Valley/Liberty public via the township the focus of that meeting was at times commissioners regarding planning and pulled off resort/recreation developdevelopment standards for ment by some of the public with other recreation/resort areas within the town- agendas. It would be my hope that ship. This is due, in part, to the on- meetings in the future would help us address resort/recreation development appropriate to our township in a concentrated, positive manner. Perhaps it would be good for smaller groups from each township (because we are more passionate about our own areas) who have varied backgrounds, experience, and opinions to get together to discuss what is appropriate and acceptable resort/ recreation development, and then have larger public meetings after some “brain-storming” has been done. It would be good to rally together, not just to fight something, but to create something better than what we now have. Please contact your township commissioners with your comments. If you like the idea, and you’re interested in being a part of a discussion group let them know.
