Oliver William Hincy On his way to earning his Eagle Scout award by November, Oliver William Hincy, 12 in July, completed his final project Saturday, June 1 with the help of over 20 volunteers, including family members, friends, and Scouts from Troop 569. The project involved removing and replacing the pressure-treated deck boards on the 35-foot Weber Pathways bike and walking bridge next to the Valley Market in Eden near the four-way stop. The bridge is very important to Oliver, who rides his bike across it regularly with his friends to visit Eden’s Maverick station and Valley Market. Oliver wanted to do something that would improve safety for his community. The boards were replaced at an angle to make them last longer and to keep bicycle tires out of the spaces between the boards as they cross. The wood was donated by Weber Pathways and board member Alan Wheelwright approved the project for Weber Pathways. Wheelwright stated, Oliver’s team did an excellent job and knocked it out of the park by even lining up the screws.
