Show Volume XXV Issue X The Ogden Valley news Page 5 June 15, 2019 Wimpy and Fritz to Join Lineup at This Year’s Ogden Valley Open Market By Natalie Quinn With July fast approaching, the Ogden Valley Open Market (OVOM) will soon begin! And this year we are happy to have Wimpy and Fritz, a Mexican-based food establishment, join our vendors for the summer. Wimpy and Fritz was started about a year ago by Brian Zinsmann and Lane Montoya. It is mostly a family establishment. “Both my parents and daughter work at our stand and our wives help from time to time,” Zinsmann stated. Charmingly, the name Wimpy and Fritz is based upon the two owners’ grandfather’s nicknames. “Mine is Fritz and Lane’s [grandfather] is Wimpy.” Wimpy and Fritz’s staple is street tacos. “They’re unique; we use flavors of different Latin and Caribbean cultures.” This blend of differing cultures results in a delicious blend that is sure to throw anyone’s taste buds for a wild and stupendous ride. Upon being asked about their most popular dish, Zinsmann responded, “Our most popular item is our taco plate; it’s three different meats (al pastor, carne asada and carnitas or chicken adobo). We also roast corn for elotes.” Though Wimpy and Fritz currently has no restaurant building, they are looking around for a location in downtown Ogden, which they hope to open in the fall. For now, though, they will have a valuable presence at the OVOM. “We are looking forward to being vendors this year,” Zinsmann said. “Every event gets us closer to our goals.” We are looking forward to seeing Wimpy and Fritz, as well as many other vendors, this year at the Ogden Valley Open Market. Hope to see you all at the OVOM, where we keep it local, fresh and fun!
