Gage Froerer – As a 12-year State Legislator, business owner, husband, father, loving grandpa, and 5th- generation Weber County resident, I am thankful for all of the support our family has been shown during this campaign. This is a critical time for Weber County. While we can’t put a stop to growth, we can put a stop to bad county policy. As commissioner, I will be a fighter for Weber County values and a watchdog for taxpayers. I’ve proven myself as a state legislator and now want to use my experience to fix the mess in our county offices. It’s time to get Weber County back on track and we can do it together! Last year, the Weber County Commission passed a 23% property tax increase. With very little thought on how this would affect our Weber County families and businesses, this tax increase was used to disproportionately increase salaries and bring in outside contractors totaling almost $500,000. Our county’s job growth rate at 1.5% is 38% below the state’s average, and 63% less than Utah County’s. This is unacceptable. We need commissioners who understand the economy of Weber County. My first day in office, I will propose a 23% decrease in all county salaries over $150,000. With the average household income in Weber County being $59,600, our government officials should not have bloated incomes. As a state legislator, I worked hard to earn my 100% rating with the Utah Taxpayer Association. If elected, I will review every line of Weber County’s budget, and look for ways to cut unnecessary spending and reduce the tax burden on Weber County residents. I am committed to fighting for residents of Weber County. We need a commissioner who will oppose tax increases, promote economic development, and put our communities first. Weber County deserves someone who will continuously fight for your right, your values, and your privileges. I want to see Weber County excel in every way possible. We have lots of work to do I am Gage Froerer, and I am asking you, to elect me as your Weber County Commissioner. Below are copies of this year’s CFOV winning essays. Helping Ogden Valley through the CFOV By Sunee Shaw, Valley Elementary 6th-grade student Our community is a very beautiful place. We have mountains, rivers, lakes and streams. We have all of these wonderful places in our valley but if we don’t keep it clean it will not stay beautiful. CFOV is a wonderful example of this. They come and clean up trails, pick up garbage around our community, and help make our community a better place to live. We can help as a community by donating our time. We can go around and pick up trash around our lakes and ponds. We can also plant trees and plants in places that need it. Go outside and pick up trash in your community at least once a week if you can. You don’t have to do a lot, just simply picking up after yourself will help. Or even if you just go for a walk, take a garbage bag with you and clean up garbage that you see along the way. You can also donate money. If we take these steps, it will benefit us and keep our community clean and a better place to live. What is CFOV? By Sage Stevenson, Valley Elementary 6th-grade student Have you ever wondered what CFOV stands for? Well, it means Community Foundation of Ogden Valley. This program helps lower the amount of pollution in our valley and creates fun events and places for people in our area. I benefit by donating my money, time, or both to CFOV because after I donate, my money or time gets put into our valley and I’m able to enjoy the fresh air. I’m also able to enjoy the odds and ends that come out of it like tennis, golf, and even playing areas. If you go onto https://cfovoverdrive.org/about-us/ you can learn more about CFOV. Think for a minute . . . have you donated yet? Well it is as simple as a few things. Here are some options for you to donate: #1 - Go to their fundraisers #2 - Become a sponsor. And lastly, #3 - Do your own jobs for our valley. If you would like to help, then when you have a family night you can plan to pick up trash at the reservoir. You can pick up trash wherever you go to stop the pollution in the air.
