Huntsville Town Votes to Join Ogden Valley Parks Service Area In an historic first, on April 19, 2018, the Huntsville Town Council voted to join with Eden and Liberty Parks in the newly created Ogden Valley Parks Service Area. Beginning January 2019, the communities of Huntsville, Eden and Liberty will share a single park board of directors and coordinate events, services and revenues to benefit all of the parks in the Valley. Each park will have a park committee to manage day-to-day operations, and revenues raised by each park in individual events (i.e. Huntsville 4th, Liberty Days, Balloon Fest) will go to that park, but there will be large-scale coordination of capital improvements and valley-wide events. The Ogden Valley Parks Service Area is now comprised of all property from the county lines on the north, south, and east of the Valley, and to the ridgetops of the mountains on the west. Nick Froerer, Board Chair of the Ogden Valley Parks Service Area, said, “The combined influence of all areas of the Valley in a single park district will allow us to have a greater influence on what happens in the Valley, and we will have a greater ability to draw on the wisdom and experience of residents from all the communities here.” There is now an opportunity to plan for increasing the size and number of parks in the PARKS cont. on page 10 RemembeR to vote in this yeaR’s pRimaRy election.
