He has worked tirelessly to serve his state, his community, and his country. From earliest years he possessed an abiding love of America and her Constitution, which has led him to a close study of that document and the writings of Scott Bradley the Founding Fathers. Scott served in the Utah Air National Guard before serving as a missionary for his church. He returned to receive a Bachelor of Science degree, a Masters in Public Administration, and a PhD in Constitutional Law. For thirteen years, Scott worked as an executive at AT&T, where he managed cutting-edge telecommunications projects and gained valuable experience with all facets of corporate management; including strategic planning, and a leadership assignment responsible for delivery of secured communications for the U.S. Department of Defense (North American Air Defense Command—NORAD). Scott then accepted a position with Utah State University as Director of the Telecommunications Department. He provided university-wide technical and financial leadership in the fulfillment of the Sam GranatoDemocratic Sam Granato, owner of several Salt Lake restaurants and delis, and his family and friends, are beginning a new trip, moving from community and business service to entering elective politics—a run for the United States Senate from Utah. Sam invites you to join him on the ride, believing it will be both Sam Granato rewarding and fun. Sam and the Granato family know something about starting new excursions—in life, in business, and now in politics. Sam’s father Frank was the first of his generation born in the United States. Sam’s grandparents came to Utah from Italy to herd goats in Draper, Tooele, and the Bountiful foothills. Frank started the Frank Granato Importing Co. in 1948, a modest effort begun with pushcarts. Sam learned early that work and family went together. “I loved my father, loved to be around him. And since he was working, I worked alongside him.” Sam’s uncle ran a produce company, and from his Millcreek neighborhood, as a boy, Sam would load up a wheel-barrow with Mike Lee – Republican Mike acquired his love for the Constitution early on while discussing everything from the Due Process Clause to the Second Amendment around the dinner table. Mike’s father, Rex Lee, served as Solicitor General under President Ronald Reagan and later as President of Brigham Mike Lee Young University. Mike attended most of his father’s arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court, giving him a unique understanding of government from an early age. As an attorney, he has acquired a more complete, practical understanding of why the Constitution is essential to the protection of life, liberty, and property. After graduating from law school in 1997, he served as a law clerk to Judge Dee Benson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah. He then clerked for Judge Samuel A. Alito, Jr., who was serving at that time on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit Court in Newark, New Jersey. After his second clerkship, he joined the Washington, D.C. office of Sidley & Austin, where he specialized in appellate and Supreme Court litiga- school’s charter and was ultimately responsible for the total management of all aspects of a mediumsized telephone company, operating with a multimillion dollar annual budget. While at Utah State, Scott was honored as employee of the year. Scott is Founder and Chairman of the Constitution Commemoration Foundation, a non-profit educational organization which seeks to foster increased understanding of the U. S. Constitution and encourages a return to proper government as understood and practiced at the time of America’s Founding. He is also the author of the book and DVD/CD lecture series “To Preserve the Nation.” In addition, Scott hosts a weekly talk radio show devoted to constitutional principles and their application to current political issues. Scott has been active in Utah politics for over 40 years, formerly serving as a County Central Committee member, a Precinct Chairman, County Delegate, State Delegate, and State Central Committee member of the Republican Party of Utah. Scott has chosen to run for Senate on the Constitution Party ticket in order to better champion the Constitution and serve the people of Utah. Scott and his wife Tamara live in Logan, Utah. They are the parents of five children and six grandchildren. He is seeking to secure the Blessings of Liberty not only for himself and his posterity, but also for you and your posterity. After graduating from Olympus High School, Sam decided to attend Southern Utah University. Marriage to the former Ann Wyss and four children followed as Sam and Frank worked hand in hand to grow Granato’s. Today Sam’s son Frank works in the business with him. The bitter partisan atmosphere of Washington, D.C. must be changed, and Sam believes he can aid in that effort. “I have been blessed with wonderful friends—many of whom come to my stores because it feels like home to them,” says Sam. Former Jazz coach Frank Layden and Mac Christensen, owner of Mr. Mac’s clothing stores, are his campaign cochairmen—reflecting the non-partisan support of which Sam is proud. Sam and the Granato family have achieved much, grasping the ever-hopeful opportunities found in America. From grandparents who immigrated to the United States with the promise that hard work would bring a better future for their children and grandchildren, Sam is now ready and prepared to bring moderate, problem-solving ideas and solutions to the United States Senate. This summer and fall, Sam is not just taking a trip around Utah asking “How you doin’?” He’s listening and learning. And he wants you along for the ride. tion. Several years later, Mike returned to Utah after being invited to serve as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Salt Lake City, preparing briefs and arguing cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He served as Governor Huntsman’s General Counsel from January 2005 until June 2006, when he returned to Washington for a one-year clerkship with Justice Alito at the U.S. Supreme Court. Mike returned to Utah (and to private practice) in the summer of 2007, joining the Salt Lake office of the Washington, D.C.-based law firm of Howrey LLP. Mike has earned a reputation as an outstanding lawyer based on his sound judgment, writing and courtroom advocacy skills, and thorough understanding of the Constitution. Mike has a proven track record of fighting for conservative principles. He fought the Obama administration in re-opening 77 oil and gas leases in the Uintah Basin. He fought the ACLU in its efforts to have access to the Main Street Plaza in Salt Lake City. He fought for Kane County’s rights to maintain access roads on federal ground. He has presented arguments to the Utah legislature promoting a law that allows Utah to assert eminent domain rights against the federal government on Utah public lands. He has counseled grassroots groups on legal initiatives to protect state’s rights. Mike and his wife Sharon have three children and live in Alpine, Utah. U.S. Representative Candidates Rob Bishop Republican Rob Bishop has consistently defended Utah’s interests. As Utah House Speaker, Rob promoted a conservative agenda. As a public school teacher for 28 years, Rob knows about education and making a difference for people. Rob Bishop In Congress, Rob has strengthened our national security, defended our military installations, cut taxes, looked after our public lands, and opposed reckless spending Morgan Bowen– Democratic It is safe to say that our National government has been dysfunctional for decades. Now, due to short sighted professional politicians who are corrupted by those who milk and manipulate our governmental leaders, we the American people are once again left to pay a Morgan Bowen heavy price. The financial meltdown was created by greedy bankers and both Republican and Democratic party politicians who have engaged in years of pay to play, crony capitalism. The Wall Street Bankers get the bail outs (the gold mine)… The American people get the shaft. To fix this problem Americans must work to change the way business in done in Washington. Both sides of the isle seem to constantly sell out to the special interest groups, lobbyists, and corporate giants who dominate the halls of Congress. With millions of contribution dollars thrown at these professional politicians each election cycle, it is no wonder real reform has evaded us as a people. The first step is Kirk Pearson– Constitution Hi, I’m Kirk Pearson. I’m not a politician; I’m a contractor who builds homes. It’s what I love to do. Most of us are not involved in politics. We spend our time trying to make a living for our families. We elect others to represent us and expect them to do the right thing. Well, I have tried Kirk Pearson for over 20 years to get our politicians to do the right thing for America and they and more government control. He helps lead the fight to secure our borders and develop a comprehensive national energy strategy. Rob was a founding member of the Congressional Western Caucus and he currently serves as the chair of the 10th Amendment Task Force in the House of Representatives, ranking member of Parks and Public Lands Subcommittee, serves on Armed Serves, Natural Resources, and Education and Labor committees. Rob is a life-long resident of the first district. He was born in Kaysville and graduated from Davis High and the University of Utah. He taught school in Box Elder and Weber Counties. He married Jeralyn Hansen Bishop, and they are the proud parents of five children. They reside in Brigham City. At age 17, Morgan was the youngest student body president ever elected at Merced College. In 1984 he worked as a legislative intern for Congressman Richard Lehman in Washington. He served a mission for the LDS Church in Montana and Wyoming. Morgan graduated from Merced College with an AA degree in General Studies, CSU Stanislaus with a BA in History, and Utah State University with a MS in American Studies. After 15 years as CEO of an international sustainable agricultural consulting firm, and as a consultant to political campaigns, Morgan changed careers to become a Seminary teacher for the LDS Church. This isn’t something I want to do, but I believe we have the greatest country on earth, and I need to do my part to keep it that way—for my children and your children. It’s time to end the corruption and send good people to Washington. I’m running to for Utah’s 1st Congressional District. So, if you want more of the same type of government you’ve been getting, then either of my opponents will suit you fine. But if you want someone who will not compromise their principles for political gain, I ask for your support. I am totally committed to restoring our Constitution and returning to the basic truths of our country’s foundation.
