Show The Ogden Valley news Page Volume XVIII Issue X November 1, 2010 Announcements Young Womanhood Awards Wedding Ravsten-Baker Amber Post, 17, daughter of Jeff and Natalie Post of Liberty, has received her Young Womanhood Recognition Award. She is a member of the Liberty North Fork Ward, and attends Weber High School. Makensie Ravsten and Jason Baker were united in marriage on Friday, October 8, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints Salt Lake Temple. A reception was held in their honor at the Snowbasin Lodge. She is the daughter of Chris and Melinda Ravsten of Parker, Colorado. He is the son of Richard and Cindy Baker of Liberty. Courtney Holtby, Kristi Mikkelson, and Angela Baker attended as bridesmaids. Tyson Baker, Stephen Baker, Christian Ravsten, and Chase Ravsten were groomsmen. The bride graduated from Utah State University and served in the Ukraine Kiev LDS Mission. The bridegroom attends USU and served in the Colorado, Colorado Springs LDS Mission. The new couple will live in Logan after their honeymoon to Maui, Hawaii. Shandy Rigby, 17, daughter of Bob and Brenda Rigby of Liberty, has received her Young Womanhood Recognition Award. She is a member of the Liberty North Fork Ward, and attends Weber High School. Shandy Rigby Birthday Melvin S. Whiteley Melvin S. Whiteley of Banning, California celebrated his 80th birthday with family at his daughter and sonin-law’s house on Catalina Island, CA. They enjoyed the great food available on the island, and on his Melvin Whiteley birthday he and several family members rode the zipline. He was born September 28, 1930 in Liberty, Utah, the fourth of five children born to John S. and Violet Smith Whiteley. His brothers and sister are Lawrence (deceased), Harold (deceased), Cecile (deceased), and Donald Jason and Makensie Baker (LaRae) of Kaysville, Utah. He married Barbara Brown in 1948, later divorced. There were three children from this marriage: Karen (deceased), Deanne (deceased), and Gail of Belding, Michigan. Helen K. He worked the ground and cared for the animals. His labor was a labor of love as he worked with Clair operating the family ranch. After residing in Clearfield for many years, Kash made a home at the ranch in Eden for his wife Julia Van Meeteren and sons Reggie, Jordan, and Keifer Johnson. Kash so enjoyed taking his boys to their sporting events and spending time riding 4-wheelers and motorbikes. Surviving are two daughters, Christine (Robert) Lowe, Liberty; Laura (Steve) Hilton, Riverdale; nine grandchildren; and 13 greatgrandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Aphrodite Milonas from Dover, New Jersey. Preceding Helen in death were her husband and their son Peter James. Funeral services were held October 9 at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where Military Honors were accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Ogden Regional Critical Care Unit. Kash is survived by his wife Julia; sons, Kiefer Johnson, Jordan Johnson, and Reggie Johnson; parents Clair and Shawna Van Meeteren; grandparents Dr. Alvin and June Cobabe and Dorothy Van Meeteren; sister Jamie (Doug) Lythgoe; nieces and nephews, Carlie, Jaxen, Jameson; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and in-laws Ronald (Judy ) Bradshaw. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the Huntsville Stake Center, 6450 E. 1900 N., Eden. The family greeted friends on Friday, October 15 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Interment, Eden Meadow View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, an account in the name of Julia Van Meeteren, Reggie, Jordan, and Keifer Johnson has been established at Zions Bank to assist the family that Kash valued so dearly.
