Show Volume XVIII Issue X The Ogden Valley news Page November 1, 2010 Announcements Obituaries Vernon J. Shaw Vernon J. Shaw, 85, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at his home in Roy. He was born August 10, 1924 in Liberty, Utah to Lewis and Sarah Rhodes Shaw. He married Norma Allred on October 24, 1943, in Harrisville, Utah. Vernon Shaw Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was an active member of the LDS church and served in various callings throughout his life. He was a dairy farmer but his greatest love was training and racing quarter horses. He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Norma, and five children: Kathryn (Douglas) Seamons, Ogden; Jeffrey (Rosanne) Shaw, Bountiful; Patricia Hodgson, Ogden; Pamela (John) Atwood, Morgan; and Bradley (Cindy) Shaw, Morgan. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, a brother, and a grandson. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Myers Mortuary, 845 S. Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah. Friends and family may call at the mortuary on Friday, October 22, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, October 23, 2010, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Liberty Cemetery in Liberty, Utah. Bailey is a member of the Ghost Riders 4-H Club. She has qualified for the regional competition for three years, and this year earned enough points to qualify for the state competition at the South Jordan Equestrian Center. There were 98 participants in her age group. Bailey earned 7th place over all in her intermediate class. She ranked 12th overall in speed events and 15th overall in judged events. Bailey’s family states that it has been a lot of work, but Bailey has stuck with it! “Congratulations Bailey! We are all very proud of you.
