She was born January 4, 1921 in Ogden, Utah. She was the oldest of eight daughters born to John Earl Felt and Myrtle Unsworth Felt. Mom was raised on a dairy farm in Huntsville, milkBeth F. Lowe ing cows, hauling wood with her Dad, riding horses, and chasing boys. She graduated from Weber High, and went on to become a registered nurse at Dee Memorial Nursing School. She used her first paycheck to buy dresses for her sisters. Mom continued to watch over her sisters, nieces and nephews all of her life. She married George H. Lowe, Jr. M.D. in the Salt Lake Temple on September 7, 1943, and they had six children: George (Liz), John (Nancy), Steve (Ruth), Dave (Susan), Robert (Chris), and Alta Lowe Davis (Rick); and two international sons, Haarvard Nordlie and Chou Mounarath. Mary Jane Shaw Jensen Johns Mary Jane Johns, 93, died May 17, 2009 in South Ogden. She was born June 1, 1915 in Liberty, Utah, the daughter of James Edmund and Virtue P. Chard Shaw. She attended Weber County Mary Johns schools, graduating from Weber High School. She married Alma Ken Jensen in Liberty, September 22, 1934. They later divorced. She married Parley T. Johns in the Logan LDS Temple on July 5, 1946; he preceded her in death on March 4, 1984. Mary Jane was active in the LDS Church and had been a Sunday School Teacher for the youth in the Ogden 42nd ward. She also served as the secretary to the Stake Relief Society Presidency. Lynn H. Montgomery Lynn H. Montgomery, 89, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Peachtree Place. He was born April 8, 1920 in Liberty, Utah to Harvey and Bessie Rhodes Montgomery. On March 1, 1942, Lynn Montgomery Lynn married Shirley Marberger in Ogden, Utah. They were happily married for 67 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Radioman 1st Class. Lynn worked as an Air Traffic Controller for the FFA. Following his retirement, Lynn raised and raced quarter horses. His first love was baseball and he loved playing golf once or twice a week. His sons were active in high school sports and Lynn never missed a game. Lynn is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons, Gary L. “Rusty” (Robyn) Montgomery and Riley B. (Kris) Montgomery; four grand- Dad and son David preceded her in death. She is survived by her sisters Janice (Eldon), Gay, Alice, and Jackie. Mom was an enthusiastic member of Chareya, DUP, Coronet, and the Ogden Medical Auxiliary and had many great friends in Ogden. She loved babies and children, having served as Primary President several times, as well as leader of the 11-year-old scouts. She also served as Relief Society President. She always had candy for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and loved those who married into the family. Her pies and rolls were legendary. Several generations of Ogdenites came for her homemade donuts at Halloween. Mom missed Dad so much, and rejoined him on his birthday, five years and one day after he passed away. Mom’s love was constant and deep for each of us, as is ours for her. She is an elect lady. A memorial service was held on Monday, May 16 at the Kingston Ward Chapel, 1425 Kingston Drive in Ogden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her honor to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Bonnie Pallesen Sorensen Bonnie Pallesen Sorensen passed away peacefully at her home on May 20, 2009, another victim of breast cancer. Prior to her latest bout, she was a proud 15- year breast cancer survivor. Bonnie was born in Bonnie Sorensen Manila, Utah on July 29, 1926 to Niels and Dora Pallesen. She was raised and educated in Manila. She moved to Ogden at the very young age of 16 and obtained work at Hill Field. After World War II, she met her husband of 61 years, Leon J. Sorensen. They were married on September 9, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS temple on April 11, 1963. Bonnie and Leon moved to Huntsville in 1948, bought the town’s general store, and together owned and operated Leon’s Market as a family business for over 37 years. After their retirement, they traveled throughout the world. Bonnie was a devoted member of the LDS church and an active member of the community. She stayed involved and served in numerous callings including Ogden Temple ordinance worker, management of the town’s irrigation company, volunteer at the Family History Library, volunteer at the Ogden Valley Library, and at the Valley School. She also did her part to keep Huntsville clean She was an excellent employee; working at the Ogden Arsenal and as a contract auditor at HAFB. She loved flowers and gardening and enjoyed fishing. Mary Jane is survived by her children Gayland K. Jensen (Chris) of Macon, GA, Gary R. Jensen (Connie) of North Ogden, James LaMont Jensen (Betty) of West Point, Marianne J. Holtsclaw of SLC, and Evelyn Rice (Richard) of Ogden; 18 grandchildren; Janice Marilyn 47 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and her brother Rulon C. Shaw of Felt Drake Thatcher, Idaho. She was always there to help anyone, anytime, and will be deeply missed by her grateful family and numerous friends. Bonnie was a perfect mother, dedicated to her family in every way. She was named “Mother of the Year” by The Ogden-Weber Association of American Mothers in 2004. She loved to read and plant flowers in the yard but most of all she loved to host family get-togethers. She was a great cook. Surviving are her 5 children: David L. Sorensen, Saratoga, CA; Douglas J. (Linda) Sorensen, Beaver, UT; Donald W. (Margo) Sorensen, Ogden, UT; LuAnn (Bill) Carver, Haslet, TX; and Richard L. (Regen) Sorensen, also of Huntsville. She is also survived by one brother, Alan Pallesen; 13 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon, who died in September of 2007; her parents; 1 sister; and 5 brothers. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Huntsville 2nd Ward Chapel, 277 S. 7400 E., Huntsville. Interment, Huntsville Town Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Alpine Hospice for their loving care, the staff at the Ogden Regional Radiation-Oncology Dept., and the multitude of friends who were there for her. Janice was involved with Faculty Women’s League, Belletrist Literary Club, Logan Study Club, and Les Amis. She was active in PT A and loved good music and drama. She and Eldon were avid supporters of the Old Lyric Theatre productions and the Utah Festival Opera. Janice was an active member of the LDS Church. She served both in the presidency and as a teacher in the Jr. Sunday School and Primary, and in Relief Society she was a loyal visiting teacher and visiting teaching supervisor up until January of this year. She is survived by her husband, Eldon; daughters Marilyn Bailey (DeeVon), Sandra, and Susan, all of Logan. Grandchildren: Joseph Bailey (Candis), Ann Reese (Kenny), and Eric Bailey; and 4 great-granddaughters. She is also survived by three sisters: Gay McKay (Twin Falls), Alice Kearl (Ogden), and Jackie Shaw (Liberty). Preceding her in death are her parents, four sisters: Beth Lowe, Loris Allen, Athleen Hardy, and Diane Belote. Funeral services were held May 27 at the Logan 10th Ward, 792 N. 500 E. in Logan. Interment in the Logan City Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Russell N. Hirst, Jr. and the staff of Alpine Hospice, with special thanks to Jill, Joyce, Dennis, Gilbert, and the caring aides.
