Born April 10, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. Sailor weighed 7 lbs. 2 Sailor Russell oz. and was 19 inches long. Proud parents are Shanelle and Ryan Russell! Carter E. Warnes was born to Rebecca Ferrin Warnes and Brody Warnes on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009 at 11:19 p.m. At 7 lbs. 11 oz., he weighed (thankfully) two full pounds less than his older brother Tanner, and measured 19 inches long. Mrs. Warnes is enjoying Carter Warnes her time on maternity leave from being a 6th grade teacher at Valley Elementary and sends a “Hello!” to all of her students. Mia Cochran was born May 7, 2009 in Austin, Texas and weighed 9 lbs. 1 oz. and was 21 inches long. Her proud parents are Jerry Cochran and Jen Weller Cochran. She is the granddaughter of Grant and Tami Weller Mia Cochran of Eden; Bill and Chris Cochran of Gasquet, California; and Dianna and Rod Rasmussen of Centerville, Utah. V. Joan Smith Scholer-Beck Le’Chei and Alex Parker Singleton-Parker Le’Chel Singleton and Alex Parker were united in marriage on May 14 at The Edgewood Reception Center where a reception was also held in their honor. The ceremony was officiated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints Bishop Kevin Karras. She chose Temara Broderius as her maid of honor. Skyler Parker performed the duties of best man. The bride is the daughter of Gary and Michelle Singleton of Harrisville. She graduated from Fremont High School and attends Weber State University. She is employed by Dr. Louis Meyer. Parents of the bridegroom are Tom Parker of H untsville and Trina Blackwell of Pensacola, Florida. He graduated from Weber High School and is employed by Harper Excavation. The new couple will live in North Ogden after their honeymoon to California. Anniversaries Reed and Toni Fielding Reed W. and Tonya ( T o n i ) Fielding celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Reed and Toni Fielding on May 7. They were treated to a surprise dinner by their children and grandchildren at Maddox Ranch House Restaurant on May 9. They grew up together and were high school sweethearts. They married on May 7, 1959 in Ogden, Utah. On March 13, 1973, they were married in the Salt Lake Temple and sealed to their two children. Reed was born to Earl W. and Willena Madsen Fielding. He was raised in Huntsville, and graduated from Weber High School in 1959. He retired from Continental Obituaries Bakery with 37 years of service and also re-retired from First American and Heritage Title Companies. Tonya (Toni) was born to Thomas Logan and Evelyn VanOrden Bright. She was raised in Ogden Canyon, attended Weber High School for two years, and graduated from the first Weber Adult High School class at Bonneville High School in 1961. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service after working there for 38 years. Their children are Kevin (Julie) Fielding of Santa Clara, Utah; and Bambi (Tim) McConnell of Sandy, Utah. They have eight grandchildren (one deceased) and one greatgrandchild. They especially enjoy sharing their children and grandchildren’s lives. They are active in their local LDS ward. They enjoy traveling, hiking, skiing, water skiing, boating, and golfing. Reed also enjoys mountain biking at the Huntsman Senior Games. Toni volunteers at the Weber/ Morgan Children’s Justice Center, plays the piano and organ at church, and loves to read. And they said it wouldn’t last . . . . Our mother, grandmother, and friend passed away Friday, May 8, 2009 surrounded by her family at her son’s home. She was born May 25, 1930 in Provo, Utah to the marriage of Viola Schoenfeld and V. Joan Beck Wayne P. Smith. V. Joan graduated from Springville High School in 1947, was a Red Devil Cheerleader her senior year, Miss Springville in 1948, and a finalist for Miss Utah in 1949. While attending USU, she was a cheerleader for the Aggies, a member of Chi Omega Sorority, a finalist for Sweetheart of Sigma Chi, and a member of the Sponsor Corps. Her designing and sewing ability brought her great joy. She was active in modeling after graduating from Ruth Tolman’s John Robert Powers School of Modeling in SLC. She married Bruce C. Scholer in 1954, and while making a home in Sunset, raised four children. She was active in JayCees, Roy Ladies Elks, and a finalist for the Mrs. Utah contest in 1967. Joan divorced and brought her three living children to Ogden to live. She worked at the Ogden Clinic as a receptionist for six doctors, as a secretary for NML Insurance, and in 1974 she met and married Robert B. Beck. Bob was a very loyal and Grover Stuart Jones Our father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2009 at the Crestwood Care Center in Ogden, Utah after a brief illness at the age of 83. Grover Jones Grover was born in Wellsville, Utah on January 23, 1926, the youngest child of Grover Barnes and Jane Stuart Jones. He was raised in Wellsville and was a graduate of South Cache High School. After high school, he served in the United States Army. On November 18, 1949, Grover married Joyleen Gunnell in the Salt Lake Temple. She recently passed away, in January 2009. They were blessed with two children, Dale and Susan. Grover had been employed at HAFB retiring after more than 30 years of service. He considerate husband and a great father to three step-children, and thus began the third 20 year span of her life. She worked as a Dept. Sec. in Nursing and in the Dept. of Child and Family Studies at Weber State University where she retired after 20 years. She was a finalist, twice, for the Crystal Crest, Wm. P. Miller Friend of the Student Award. V. Joan enjoyed their cabin at Nordic Valley, participating in their grandchildren’s events, collecting antiques, and traveling in their fifth wheel trailer with “Mr. Pug.” Mom left us many lovely quilts and afghans that she enjoyed working on. She is survived by son B. Chad Scholer (Cheryl) of Syracuse, daughters Brooke C. Larsen (Greg) of Bicknell and Mellyn V. Florence (Brad) of Ogden, step-daughter Joan Louise Songer (Brent), and step-son Robert S. Beck, and the lovely families of her children. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Allyson Scholer; her mother, Vi Smith; father, Wayne P. Smith; Auntie Marg; and grandson Courtney Florence. Mother loved life and was an outgoing, friendly woman. She loved and was very proud of her children, 15 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Mountain View Cemetery in Eden. Family and friends called prior to the service at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., in Ogden. Condolences may be sent to the family at <www.myers-mortuary.com> was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and had served in various callings throughout his life, including serving in the Ogden Temple and the name extraction program, which he greatly enjoyed. He is survived by his daughter Susan (Ken) Francis of Huntsville, Utah; four grandchildren, Aubree Jones, Luke (Kara) Francis, Jake Francis, and Krysti Francis; two great-grandsons; and his brother Stan Jones of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Reed, his sister Ellen, his son Dale, and his wife, Joyleen. The family would like to thank Dr. Chris Merkley and also the nurses and staff of Crestwood Care Center for their loving care of Grover. Graveside Services were held at the Wellsville City Cemetery on Tuesday, May 12, 2009. Interment Wellsville City Cemetery.
