On Saturday Claude and Hilda Thacker along with Don and Neil and another family member from Heber all traveled out to Altamont for the funeral of their neices husband. While there they were able to have a nice visit with ' everyone. Bonnie Sweeny is back home from the hospital after undergoing surgery. She came home last Friday and is doing fine. Joyce and Eugene Maughn and daughter Loni came up Sunday night and stayed the night at the Claude and Hilda Thacker home. Gary and' Cindy Walker and family along with Barry and Diane Walker and family were all for the Memorial Day and then Glen Jones and family were here for the weekend with the Rex Walkers. Clarence Johnson flew in Saturday for Memorial Day from Las Vegas. He left home on Wednesday. It was a busy Memorial Day weekend for Cleo and Algie Anderson. Last Tuesday the Kamas Ward Primary held their Inservice Meeting with Elaine Padfield presenting the lesson to those who were in attendance. Also discussed during the meeting were plans for the summer and then refreshments were served. In the Sacrament Meeting in the Kamas Ward, Brother Fueling, the seminary teacher at South Summit High School presented the program. The youth speakers for the meeting were Machelle Crystal and Jim Ure. Lola Lambert and Marcia Leavitt played a piano and organ duet for the musical number. Mike Prescott was released as a Sundav School teacher and in his place Tim Gines was called to the position. Coalville Mr. and Mrs. Frank Moore, Veran Moore and Rhea Bagnell artended funeral services for their e doctor and friend. J. He Cannon. was a graduate Floyd of the George Washington University School of Medicine in Wash., D.C. Dr. Cannon's practice was in internal medicine. He had been an assistant clinical professor at the UofU and authored several articles for Annals of Internal Medicine. He was a Dr. and friend to several families in this area and made housecalls from Salt Lake to long-tim- Coalville and as far west as Tooele, as well as Salt Lake. Several of his books he has written are being used at Universities in Hielberg, Germany and England. His minor was geology. While working his way through school, he worked in southern Utah during the summer and he. at that time, made an aerial map of Tim's Canyon. His grandfather Cannon was affiliated with the mines at Grass Creek here in our area. At the time of his death, he was writing a book on cancer. Mrs. Vera Peterson, Belva Wright and Mrs. Valier Carmichael. all of Salt Lake, visited with Mrs. Lorraine Faddis Tuesday. Belva also visited with the cooks at the high school. On Friday Mrs. Terry Parkin hosted a luncheon at her home to help a few friends celebrate their Birthdays, Debra Harkness, La Rae DiStano and herself. Jay was a former resident of Francis. His parents were one of our early settlers of the Valley. Jay died April 25. 1980 in Willard, where he had lived for a number of years. He was another victim of the dreaded cancer and diabetes. The cause of death was pnemonia. Burial was in Willard, Utah. Francis has another new resident. He is Jim Patterson. He has bought the Retta Prescott home. He works in Park City in the Landscaping business and snow removal. Ralph and Erma Prescott have their Debra, and husband. Dr. Dave Davenport, and five children from Spokane Washington visiting them. They attended church services Sunday with the Prescotts. Debra Anderson and baby from Provo was visiting her parents. Jack and Rae Prescott. She attended church services Sunday with her parents. Beatrice(Fraughton) Black has been seriously sick in the American Fork Hospital. Bea called Francis home while all of her children were young. She was born and raised in Francis. After her marriage to Lavern Fraughton Francis was home to them while he worked in the mines. She is home now from the hospital. The Francis Bronc Busters H.H. Club Auction was really a success at the Town Park Saturday. They auctioned off everything from Snowmobiles to hamsters. The leaders are Linda Kirkham and Norene Park. The members are young children all are mighty proud of their efforts to get what " they want themselves. Merla and Doris Worthington visited lone Prescott one day last week. Merls mother was Nellie Prescott daughter of George and Helen Prescott who many many years ago lived just below the corner west of Iones. Tracy and Laraine Flygare have sold their home East of Foothill Drive and are building a new home on the river road. Until they get their new home ready they are living in a trailer. Roy Young who we have read and heard on the news who was burned laying carpet in Salt Lake is the son of Helen (Pace) and Brig Young. lie is the Grandson of .Arch and the late Minninett Pace of Woodland. Don and Faye Keyes and family have gone to Fallon, Nevada over Memorial Day weekend. They are visiting their daughter Susan and husband Beal Cann. Mrs. Etna Neil formerly of Park City well known as Mrs. Coffee John of Park City. Utah was at the Francis cemetery Monday. Her son Page brought her as she is now 92 years old. She now lives in Salt Lake City. She was the former Etna Page. Her home was at the end of Page Lane below the hill. She was a registered nurse before she married John Neil (Coffee John). They ran the Coffee John Cafe in the lower end of Park City for many years. Being born in Francis and living here many years she' has many relatives in our vicinity. She visited the graves of relatives and living friends and relative such as Elda Bates. Melva Page, and Lila Page who are all her nieces. Monday evening Brad Graham while playing ball at the town park had the misfortune of injuring his hand. He was hospitalized and had his thumb operated on Wednesday.
