From the Wasatch Wave May 27. 1890 90 BEN FORMAN ARRESTED-- : FOR STEALING A HORSE AND A SADDLE Park, Sheriff Jones procured a fresh horse and rode over to the railroad camp arriving there at about oclock 3 Sunday morning. He found his man there, as he . had - Last Sunday Sheriff Jones arrested Ben Forman at the railroad, camp near Ross Summit. He was brought to Heber and Sunday afternoon was taken to Provo by Sheriff French of Uintah County and Sheriff Jones of this county. He is charged with stealing a horse, and saddle, belonging to F.M. Caldwell at Ashley, Uintah County. It appears that sometime between the 19th and 20th of this month he left Ashley and it was soon afterwards learned that a valuable horse belong- ing to Mr. Caldwell and his saddle left about the same time. Wednesday morning, Forman, accompanied by the horse and saddle passed Fort Duchesne. Later he was seen by a party who lives in Ashley. To the mans inquiry as. to how he came by the horse, Forman said he had traded with Mr. Caldwell. News was telegraphed to Sheriff Jones of this place Wednesday to be on the watch for him. anticipated. Forman said that he had sold the horse in Springville. The. officers went to Springville and with but little trouble found the stolen horse and .saddle at Bird's stable. The horse and saddle . was recovered and the stable keeper was out $65, the price paid Forman for the. outfit. The officers returned to Heber with their prisoner yesterday. 50 Years Ago ...
