Show Duchesne FCCLA earns Four Star Chapter award S SAFC SVi t DAY The Ogden Convention Center waa the setting for the 56th an nual Family Career Community Leaden of Utah State Competition held March 23 and 24. The Duchesne r High chapter was represented by 31 chapter members and their projects. The chapter received two PEP ( Peer Educator Program) awards, for both national programs of Families First and Career Connections. The Jr-S- V & $A J $i isa FOCUS ON CHILDREN I he KIDS Safety Day held last fall at Duchesne Elementary was the winning J unior Focus on Children project presented by Whitney Kelsey, Kelt Grant and Barry Hill. Families Fint award, was received for organizing the first Duchense Elementary Grandparents Day. Career Connections recognition was for their Mini Career Fair held recently for the Junior High TLC classes. The Duchesne Chapter was also one of 12 chapters in the state to receive the FourStar Chapter award. This award is given to outstanding chapters which have been involved in their community and school to show a balance of work and leadership, service and individual development. This is the fifth consecutive year the Duchesne Jr-S- r High Chapter has1 received this award. Six chapter members also received recognition for completing the organizations Power of One program which is a five level goal setting pro- were: Jeff FostereostwCanie Hill, CheyLynn Hill and Dayna Wilkerson. Of the 31 chapter members who attended the competition eleven members qualified for the National Competition to be held in Anaheim California this summer. Those placing at state were: Illustrated Talk in the Junior Division' Margo Farnsworth Island Cami Kelsey 2nd. Third in Entrepreneurship went to Joe Foster and Richard Hamilton. First place in Chapter Showcase Manual went to CheyLynn Hill and Dayna Wilkerson. Placing 1st inSkills for Life Senior Division was Maria Farnsworth and Lesley Jenkins and 3rd in the Skills for Life Junior Division went to Jessica Fabrizio and Megan Park. First in the Junior Focus on Children Kolt Grant, Barry Hill and Whitney Kelsey and 1st in Senior Chapter Service Display was Carrie Hill,KirkKillian and Delaney Mecham. Chapter adviser Ellen Hill received the national Spirit of Ad vising award. Kirk Killian, er SUCCESSFULSERVICEPROJECT-DuchesneChapterOfficCarrie Hill and Dalaney Mecham presented the place Gold Medal Senior Chapter Service Project for FCCLA. The Projection Microscope was purchased with Trustlands money. A microscope like this one was purchased for each classroom after the committee identified the selected use of the money last spring The students enjoy seeing things made big. Loma volunteered for the position when she realized foe great need for her assistance. Her unfailing efforts were recognized recently with a regional volunteer award.
