Show Shelton receives award from Civil Air Patrol Mmor Joe Shelton, commander of the Uintah Basin Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol was recently awarded the "Commanders Commendation Award foroutstandingdutyperfor-- . mance in connection with his duties as the Commander of the local squadron. The Civil Air Patrol is an auxiliary of the United States Air Force. As many of you know, the CAP is involved in searchi ng for lost or downed aircraft. They also can be and are of service in searching for lost hikers, and other missing people such as missing land vehicles etc. Also they have a role in the "War on Drugs. In recent months, our local squadron has been quite busy. We partici- in searches for downed aircraft Ked in the Baxter pass area of Colorado (down towards Grand Junction) where our squadron was able to find tho lost airplane with two people aboard. Including two donations totaling $500, to the Uintah and Kings Peak Scout Districts. Each District received a donation of $250.
