Tiger named to r Basketball Academic 1A All-Sta- te ByBeeca Gordon Sam Rhoades, a forward on the Tabiona High School basketball team, was recently named to the 1 A Academic Basketball team. Rhoades is one of just three Tigers ever to be named to the Academic team, according to Robert Park, Tabiona High School principal. He is the son of Ervan and Jan Rhoades and was honored at the state playoffs in Cedar City. He is one of 10 young men selected to the 1A academic team this year. The academic teams combined grade point average was 3.7. Rhoades carries a 3.8 FPA and is currently enrolled in college courses at Tabiona High School. He is also the Tabiona High School General Sterling Scholar. Rhoades was also named to the Baseball Academic team and ia a member ofthe Future Farmers of America, chorus, and is participating in the drama dubs production of Harvey." Rhoades also participated in Governors Honors Academy, and he attended Close-u- p in Washington D.C. earlier this winter. The Tigers beat Green River to win Region but were upset at State with a one pdnt loss to Panguitch. They then went on to beat Milford for 3rd place. Other Tigers in the news are for the Region History Fair, Jerry Rasmussen won 1st and Riley Roberta won 2nd in the Historical Paper division, and Loni Hickam won 1st in Projects. Hunter ethics course offered Those interested injcdningUtahs Dedicated Hunter program, which allows hunter, additional opportunities to hunt buck deer in exchange for service work that benefits Utahs wildlife, must attend a game management hunter ethics course before April 21. To join the program a Certificate of Registration also must be purchased. Courses are free and, except for the Duchesne and Vernal courses, hunters do not need to preregister. Seating ia available on a first-servbasis. Courses run about 2 12 hours.
