June 29. 1988 Ute Tribe Neolas July 4th celebration is a tradition of 56 years Every year for 56 yean eon eecutivefy, the community of Ne-ohaa held a July 4 celebration. For many Baain residents, thats a the only way to celebrate the a part of their tradition. And the dedicated citizens who put the festivities together every year have no objections to that This years celebration starts Friday, July 1, with a berbecue at the Neola Rodeo Grounds, starting at 6 pm. The meal is $5.00 a plats for adults, $2.50 for children 11 and under, and everyone is invited, says Ron Duncan, one of this years organisers. Following the feast, a demonstration of equestrian strength la 4th--it- will be held, as 40 teams from throughout the states of Utah and Colorado participate in a horse pull. Scheduled for 7 pm., the pull involves teams that two-hor- se compete in pulling variously weigh ted "a tone boats, as they are called; prises will be awarded in light, middle, and categories, with an estimated $5,000.00 purse overall. The Saturday, July 2 schedule begins with a patriotic program at the Neola LDS Chapel at 10 a.m. The program will follow the traditional format, says Duncan, with songs, speeches, and a general heightening of the American patriotic spirit. heavy-weig- ht Pqw-Wo- w Spirited also describes the culmination of Neolas eslebra-tiothe rodeo, to be held at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the rodeo varies grounds. A jackpot-whi- ch according to the event and its $100.00 will be entry awarded to the winner in each event The rodeo is under the direction of the Western States Rodeo Association, an amateur rodeo organization. This years July 4 celebration wont take place on July 4 because it falls on Monday.
