Generally, evaporation from the pan equals the water uae by the crop. Scheduling with the Pan becomes a fairly simple procedure, then, waiting to irrigate until the water level reaches file lower line and filling the wash tub to the upper line just after an irrigation. The Soil Conservation Service has worked with people in the Basin to set up their own evaporation pans. The technique has been very well received by Reed Claybum, a grower in the Arcadia Area. He says it has helped him put hie water where it is needed most, saving himself time and effort as well as stretching the water for optimum use.
