Student numbers increase Growth is no stranger to residents of Duchesne County, but growth in the Countys schools during the winter months is something which doesn't usually happen. This is the first time it has happened since the early 1970's," said Lowell Caldwell Duchesne County Superintendent of Schools. According to Caldwell Duchesne County schools usually lose upwards of 200 students each year during the winter months. "We picked up about 50 students this said Caldwell He said winter," although the trend is unusual it wasn't unexpected. "Its a trend that is critical said Caldwell The superintendent pointed out that it shows that people are staying here, and moving here, rather than moving out of the area. Caldwell said there are, as yet, no real problems with the expanded student population. Caldwell said they have added some aids to handle the increased student loads., He said that will suffice for now. However, the superintendent said next fall, if trends continue, they will have to hire additional teachers to handle the demands placed upon the educational in Duchesne system County.
