The extended forecast calls for increasing cloudiness with a chance of rain and snow Friday. There should be decreasing cloudiness Saturday with clouds increasing again late Sunday. Highs should be between 35-4-0 degrees and lows should be in the upper 20s. Temperatures for the past week are Houston won the area contest and will compete in the State Contest March 29. PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURE WINNERS Lynn Chandler, Steven Harrison, Steven Collins, Darrell Gillman, and Tracy FFA wins honors Duchesne County At the regular meeting of the Duchesne County Commission on March 2, the following was included on the agenda: Road Department Dan Adams was hired to run the service truck and do mechanic work. Discussion was held on various roads which need maintenance and shale; and Energy Impact Funds were discussed, with Loryn Ross recommending an application be made for the same to be used on building the hospital and the Bluebell and Pleasant Valley roads. Hospital Hospital Building & Equipment Company representatives J. Buckner Morse, Paul Tchoukaleff and Gary Maier expressed concerns with the plans for . the hospital expansion project, and presented an alternate proposal of a 32,000 square foot y addition which had been well received by doctors, hospital staff and board members earlier. They said if their plans were accepted they would be ready to hid by August 1. There was some discussion as to whether the present plan could be licensed through the State Department of Management and Planning. These items were taken under advisement. Marshall discussed the Title XX Discretionary Block Grants of $35,727, stating there is no local match, but the amount budgeted for this purpose could be put with the above funds to enrich the program. - jfh 'As,' Sv Special guests at the February 25 meeting of the Uintah School District Board of Education were State Superintendent Walter Talbot and State Board of Education member Karl Shisler. Dr. Talbot indicated that some school districts are charging for courtesy rides which they are providing to students who live within the limit of miles for elementary students, and two miles for secondary students. r t : ra- Uintah County School District - The Board of Education visited the site of the new elementary school being constructed in Lapoint. The contractors are making satisfactory progress in the construction of this facility. Joint meeting The Uintah School District and the Duchesne School District board members held s joint meeting later in the evening to discuss capital outlay items, curriculum, Union contract and other business items. Lapoint school :. Board to discuss BLM betterment work; 4. Projected range improvement work for next year; 5. Range improvement equipment needs; 6. Progress of the District range environmental statements; 7. Recent policy relating to the role of the District Grazing Advisory Board; 8. Continuation of the District Grazing Board Charter. The meeting is open to the public. Interested persons may make oral statements for the Board's consideration. Anyone wishing to make a statement must notify the District Manager, Bureau of Land Management, 170 South 500 East, Venial, prior to the meeting. Depending on the number of persons wishing to make statements, the District Manager may set a time limit. grazing The Vernal BLM Grazing Advisory Board will meet Tuesday, March 23. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the conference room of the Bureau of Land Management office, 170 South 500 East, Vernal. The agenda for the meeting will include: 1. A review of minutes and items pertaining to the last Board meeting; 2. Recent policy relating to participation of range users in the BLM inventory, planning and other programs; 3. This would cost $450 for four hours of classroom and eight hours of actual practice on vehicles. The county will pay $250 of the cost with the balance to be raised by the participants in the program. A team of Lynn Chandler, Steven Harrison, Steven Collins, Darrell Gillman, and Tracy Houston were the winners of the area Parliamentary Procedure contest Steven Harrison placed second in the Public Speaking division, while Steven Collins won the Proficiency Award. This group of FFA members will travel to Provo to compete in the state-wid- e competition March 29. The convention will he March 29-3and the youth leaders will elect state officers and will receive training to come back to their own individual chapters enthused and excited and share their d knowledge with other chapter members. The Chapter Sweetheart, Shanna Frandsen, will also go with them to who compete. Also at the convention, any state awards will be presented to the deserving chapters.
