Show GflilfflON Wednesday, May 29, 1972 Page 9 RECREATION REGISTRATION General Registration Day for Park Summer Citys Recreational Program will be held Saturday, Jund 1st, from 9 AM till 12 noon in thfe City Park. To be conducted under the supervision of Kathy. Kocinski, Recreation the Director, program will offer a vtide variety of activities for all age groups. TENNIS The tennis program, which will be offered in two sessions, will include an introduction to all the basic strokes and skills of tennis. Singles and doubles match play will be stressed and the program will include various interesting and competitive drills designed to achieve a higher level of play. Both sessions will be conducted on the Resort tennis courts. Hie two qualified instructors will use the Tennis America teaching method. This program is open to boys and girls ages 10 to 18. Instruction will be one hour in length Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1 PM and 3 PM. Second First Session: June Session: July Cost: $4 per session. Registration: June 1. 11-2- 7; 9-2- supervised by experienced backpackers. All food and soln equip-- , ment will be furnished by the program and with the individual providing pack frame, sleeping bag and personal necessities. This summer get out, see and learn about the mountains,' the best way possible - on foot. HORSEBACK RIDING Park City West Stables is of- classes in basic horsemanship this summer. Lessons will include grooming, saddling, riding and guiding a horse. Horses and all equipment will be supplied by the Stables. Each session will include 5 lessons (3 one-holessons, a two-holesson, and a hour ride with lunch supplied). There will be a maximum of 6 people in a class. and Age groups are Classes for the younger age group will be Monday and Friday at 9 AM. Classes for the older age group will meet Monday and Friday at 10 AM. First Session: 1. Second Session: June 12. Cost: $25. DANCE SWIMMING Swimming lessons at beginning and intermediate levels will be conducted throughout the summer for boys and girls over the age of 5 years. The courses will utilize the American Red Cross method of teaching. Each class session will be one hour in length and' run continuous each week day for two weeks. The lessons will be held between the hours of 8 AM and 10 AM at the Silver King Lodge pool. First Session: Second Session: June June 10-2- 1; and July Third Session: July Fourth 9. Cost: Session: July $5 per session. Registration: 24-2- 8 8-1- 2; 15-2- 6; 29-Aug-ust Junel. Classes for advanced level swimmers will be offered in late July and August. These classes will emphasize stroke development, water games and fitness, for interested groups ages 8 and 18 and above. More information on this program in late June or early July. Registration: 13-1- July 13. The modern dance program will attempt to give students the creative experience of pure movement, and the discovery of their own bodies. Participants will have the opportunity to freely create on their own, move and get to know each other and learn the basics of dance, incorporating ballet, jazz and pantomime. Younger children may wish to work on group compositions and plan a dance production. Teens may wish to join in a free and exciting jazz class. Adults may wish to take modem dance, tone up in ballet, or merely exercise for fitness. All in all, it should be an exciting and refreshing addition to the Recreation Program. Each session will be four weeks in duration, consisting of 2 one-holessons per week at the Memorial Building. 0 year olds will meet Monday and Friday from 5 PM. 5 year olds meet Monday from 5-- PM and Wednesday will meet from 5 PM. and Wednesday Friday from 5--6 PM. The High Uinta Primitive Area is one such area; and is a mere drive from Park the summer This jCity Recreation Program will offer (two backpacking, trips into the High Uintas . Instruction will be given in wilderness navigation, survival and comfort. Prior to each pack trip, a one day hike wiui uie program and attendance at an orientation meeting will be required. The schedule is as follows: 4 PACK TRIP 1: July Cost: days, 3 nights. Ages: Orientation :$20. Meeting: June 27, 7PM at Park. Day Hike: June .29. SUMMER SKI CONDITIONING This program of summer ski conditioning, directed by Bob Theobold, is for anyone who wishes to prepare for next seasons recreational, racing, or freestyle activities. Utilizing training aids such as the tramand possibly poline, mini-trama jumping ramp into water, the on program concentrates p, developing strength, agility, balance, technique and the mental understanding necessary for safer and more proficient skiing of any type. In addition to skiing, the preparing program offers several activities that are worthwhile in themselves and beneficial to any acfor tive individual.
