Show THE Wednesday, May 29, 1974 MRK CfTY -- (mm Page 2 Theriot Spring Water City Park Summer Outline Development of the Theriot Spring water source is presently underway and, if estimates prove correct, it will provide more water than Park City is currently using. When completed, the project will consist of a 500,000 gallon concrete reservoir, a 900 gallon per minute pump at 13th Street, an gallon per minute and chlorinator at the pump 800 Theriot, and approximately 75 feet of transmission line. At present, an agreement is pending which would have the GPCC deed a working water system from the Theriot, the tie-i- n lines, pumps, and the reservoir to the City. In return, GPCC would retain the right to make a certain number of water to this new system at no additional cost to the Company. This agreement would give Park City a working water system for the upcoming winter with no cost or obligation entailed. This water supply would exist regardless of the productivity of the Judge Tunnel con-nectio- ns Each week throughout the summer daily activities will be planned for the Park. There will be no charge for any of these activities. A calendar of events will be published in the newspaper and there will be posters around town to announce each weeks schedule. All age groups will be included in these activities. At this time, some of the events planned are: YOUNGSTERS DAY - From 3 PM one day out of each week, there will be planned activities for children ages 5-- On this day, youngsters can become involved in storytelling, games, art, crafts and gardening. -CAMPING OUTDOOR Several days at the Park will be devoted to teaching children camping skills: tent pitching, path finding, hiking, fire building, and outdoor cooking (in project. This revelation will fail to astonish you, were sure, but the sign is rather unique in that it was not posted by the city, county or state. It was erected approximately three months ago by Mr. rred Miller. You may have observed Mr. Miller, who lives at 70 Daly Avenue, harassing drivers as they pass his house or you may even have been accosted personally. Is Mr. Miller some kind of deranged person or being? NO. Mr. Miller is a man with a mission and his fervor may very well save the life of a child. For many months, Fred observed that, for some anti-soci- al and dinner SPECIAL DAYS - At this time, there are plans for a scavenger hunt, a clown day, a pet parade and pet contest, and a bicycle ob- stacle course race. People need fish, fish need clean water Ig 3 mysterious reason, a significant number of motorists mistake Daly Avenue for the Bonneville Salt Flats. Unfortunately, most of the spectators for these road rallies are young children. Hence, the homemade speed limit sign. The sign and Freds verbal exhortations have had limited success, but their impact has been far from sufficient to insure the safety of the approximately twenty-fiv- e children who live along the Empire Canyon road. What is needed is a small amount of common sense on the part of those people who travel this street. The Speed Kills and Slow Down and Live slogans are so often seen and heard in the media that a Yeah, I know, ho hum response is usually invoked, but repetition does not render the truth false or diminish a real danger. Daly Avenue is.narrow, has no sidewalks, is unpaved and bisects a portion of town heavily populated with young people. The potential for heartbreak is evident and the need for caution seems obvious, yet people persist in traveling Daly at speeds that are less than prudent. In response to Mr. Millers pleas, the City has promised that in the very near future a regulation speed limit sign and a dead end sign will be placed on Daly Avenue to curb the dangerous speeding. Will offenders Dav snrpater heed to an officially posted sign? We wonder. It spem.s that many of the motorists are in such a hurry that they will have little time to notice a new warning.
