Congress is really determined to adjourn before the Republican convention. The Speaker and Tilson and Snell and other persons of authority in the House, are talking of adjournment for the last of May, and declare positively that the session will not continue after June 1.' This will allow the Republicans time in . plenty to make the Kansas City convention June 12th. The Democrats, who will not convene at Houston until June 26, naturally do not have to worry. Conat gress always likes to be foot-loothe time of the national conventions. se The lowliest, as well as the mightiest members, have the feeling that a national convention is something which they must see, and at which they must be seen. Part of the haste, which strange as it may seem, is now apparent in the deliberations of Congress, is based on the desire to be in Kansas City, and also the fear that unless Congress reasonably cleans the docket, the members will be criticised for having abandoned public business for an opportunity to assist in a national party activity. Were it not for this wholesome fear of the great onlooking public, which in the end, marks the ballots, Congress would adjourn in short order. But, even as it is, every energy will be devoted to clearing so the Kansas City journey can be made. the-dec- k GETTING READY Some of the boys have all their fishing tackle ready for the opening, June 15. Fish poles repaired, fly tackle sorted and new flies added to bring it up to date. From now until the opening day the time will drag very slowly for some of the boys. . The condition of the water in the streams depends principally upon the weather. Cool weather will hold back the high waters and result in muddy streams. However should the weather change to warm and continue, the big run will be over and the streams will commence clearing. The boys are getting ready to visit all parts of the state in quest of the delicious trout. r.
