Show I Region boys and girls track Friday ( n Roys and Girls track teams from Duchesne County schools will participate at the regional track meet this Friday, May 6 at East Carbon. State track competition will be held at Brigham Young University May 14. A track meet was held in Tabiona on April 27th involving three schools, Tabiona, Duchesne, and Altamont. This meet involved both boys and girls track. Altamont won with the girls final team score of 82 points. Duchesne came in second with 39 points, and Tabiona had a final score of 25 points. Winning girls for the Altamont team were: Davis in the 440 yd. Dash; Tucker in the 880 yd. dash; I i I Julie Tucker in the Mile; Janae Tucker in the high jump; Arlene Perry in the discus thmw and the javelin. Altamont also won three out of four relays, the 880, the mile, and the medley. Winners for the Duchesne girls team were: Debbie Sue Foy in the 80 yd. dash; Tina Ivie in the long jump; and Kathy Smith in the shot put. Annette Fabrizio won the 100 yd. dash for Tabiona, and Tabby also won the 440 relay in the girls competition. Tabiona won the boys competition at the meet with a final team score of 74 points. Duchesne was second again with a score of 31 points, and Altamont received a total of 27 points. Winning boys for the Tabiona team were: J. R. Espinoza in the 120 yd. hurdles; Billy Williams in the 330 intermediate hurdles and the 220 yd. dash; Lee Giles in the 880; Lefler in the 2 mile; Brad Burt in the shot put; Don Wood in the discus and javelin throws; and Clint Rroadhead in the pole vault. Tabby also won the 440 and the medley relays. On Duchesne's team Kelly Roll won the 100 yd., dash and the long jump; Craig Addley won the 440 yd. dash; and Eric Lewis won the mile. Altamont won the mile relay and Mark Birch came in first on the high jump. Tabiona's coach, Tom Kohler, says that he has two strong contenders this year, they are Clint Broadhead in the pole vault and Annette Fabrizio in the 100 yd. dash. An invitational track meet was held last weekend at RYU with teams from several surrounding states involved. In the Novice division Glenda Giirr was first with 11 points; Tracy Durfee second place with 6.60 points and Darlene Frost third with 4.40 points. Geraldine Frost won the Green Horse competition and goat tieing was won by Tracy Durfee. The May 7 Jackpot will he held at RoheUe Warren's arena with sign up at 10 a.m. and run at 10:30. Final weekend of horse races at Petroleum Downs On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, May 5, 6, and 7, the Uinta Cutter Association will sponsor their second weekend of races at Petroleum Downs, near Roosevelt. Included in this weeks races will be on Saturday. Two year olds running in this event will include two horses owned by Shorty Hatch, Tai Wee, out of Aforethought with a time of 18.00; and Gallant Rose out of Gallant Jet with a time of 18.17. Others are Miss Wendy Me, out of Shadow Rocket with 18:27; Sailor Cindy out of Mr. Sailor with 18 .34; Oh My Sailor out of Three 0's with 18.35; and Mr. Bin Charge out of Mr. Kid Charge with 18.59. There will be a quarter derby on High school rodeo set May 7 Friday; Appaloosa Derby on Friday, a Thoroughbred Derby on Saturday, Quarter Maturity on Saturday and a Thoroughbred Futurity on Sunday. The Quarter Horse Futurity has a purse of $10,716.00; Quarter Horse Derby $4,265.00; Quarter Horse Maturity $1,852.00. The Appaloosa Futurity that had a purse of $2,356.00 was won last week by J&B Royal Bar owned by J& B Stables, William Robinson, of Draper, Utah. The Appaloosa Derby will have a purse of $2,090.00; and the Thoroughbred Futurity will have a purse of $2,080. Sponsors of the races thank everyone for coming out last weekend and invite everyone to come out again fur another weekend of what should be another great horse race. Stands will again be available to sell those attending drinks and sandwiches. Mufflers 6-- Uintah Basin high school rodeo clubs rodeo has been scheduled for Friday and at the fairgounds in Saturday. According to officials a queen contest will he held at 1:30 p.m.. on Friday followed by. the rodeo, at 8 p.m.. ng wUI begin at IQ ajn, on Saturday., followed by rodeo activities at 1 p.m. The first three winners in each event will qualify for State rodeo competition to he held in June.
